Halo 2 PC - Microsoft Vista Only -

Halo 2 from Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios will be released on 08/05/2007 exclusively on Windows Vista - over a year after it was announced for PC, and two and a half years after it was released on XBOX. UK Gamers: Amazon UK has a pre-order date of 30/05/2007.

The highly anticipated title brings Master Chief to Windows Vista and is the first title to incorporate the new Games for Windows — LIVE service. Windows Vista gamers will be able to challenge each other in PC-to-PC multiplayer matches and earn achievements for the first time in the “Halo” franchise, as well as communicate via voice or text with other Xbox LIVE or Games for Windows — LIVE members. The visually enhanced classic includes an all-new Map Editor, which will allow for new content and greater game customization. “Halo 2” will be playable with mouse and keyboard or the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.

Can't see what all the fuss is about really. An old XBOX game being released for PC over two years after the original version came out...

Do you think XBOX owners would be excited if the tables were turned?

I think I will stick to waiting for Crysis.

I don't really see the fuss either, for the previous generation of consoles, Halo 2 did have a great multiplayer, but it's nothing compared to what you can get on the PC.

It's also horribly late, and like Halo 1 PC, will probably do OK, but not all that great.

This is just gonna be an overhyped, average, graphically aged game - nothing more to say really.

To be honest, I could see myself buying this game to play with a keyboard and mouse, but only if it was cheap, and it won't be.

Going from screenshots i've seen, unless they are using xbox stills, the graphics look crap!

I just wonder how long they can keep this vista exclusive thing going for, cause I don't think the uptake of vista has been enough to be cost effective where DX10 games are concerned.

Be interesting to see if Halo 2 is vista exclusive at launch, or if they crack and bring it out with dx9 support, or even a patch.

Halo 2 just isn't the killer app for DX10, that honor goes to crysis/alan wake!
