    Games Not Working

Hi guys, ive recently tried a few games (stalker, fahrenheit etc) and they dont seem to be working. I get multiple artifacts and then a bluescreen quoting nv4_disp.dll.

Just wondered if my card was knackered as i got it from ocuk a while back

    Spec:

    Conroe 6600
    2gb Ballistix
    NVidia Geforce 7900GT
    Asus P5LD2 Mobo
    Seagate Baracuda 500gb NCQ

Anybody else getting the same error?

    Cheers

you have problems, im at 60degrees idle right now. leadtek 7900GT from OCUK, side panels on and no attempt to cool it down really. if your running 15degrees hotter at idle thats going to be punishing it when your gaming.

i would check that the fan is actually spinning first of all, then that the heatsink is making proper contact with the GPU.

edit: this is in a "sort of sff" case too. and your using an atx mobo so airflow should be better than mine

You can buy new coolers for graphics cards, may be worth looking into if you are running that hot. Like mentioned if that is at idle then it could well be the fact that it is getting really hot when gaming.

Another thing you could try doing is assigning an irq number to the video card in the bios, if the current irq is shared with something else then it could be causing an error. Sorted a friends PC with the exact same problem a few weeks back. IRQ was shared with the souncard and when a game started it just locked up in that way.

To do this find out what IRQ it is using in the device manager properties for the card. Then when you go into the bios set that to the VGA adapter, this should stop it from being shared.

Those temps are very high for a 7900GT. Try picking up a zalman VF900 which will kill the temp problem instantly or a cheaper solution, take off the current cooler, clean it up, stick on some AS5 and whack it back on.

BTW have you checked the fan is spinning? Seems obvious but people miss it.

Otherwise, just DL the latest/beta drivers and give them a go.
