shame the hard drive for it is a complete and utter rip off, otherwise I have a feeling a lot of people would be tempted to take up the core 360 deal

Can't you use a standard hard drive (if you know what you're doing)?

From what I understand, the software in the 360 is configured to only recognize a 20GB partition, so putting a larger HDD in it is pointless.

you can read from a USB HDD, but the 360 will not write to one, therefore you can stream your MP3's or movie files from an external drive but not save your games to one.

An Xsata drive is proberbly the best option as it sits inbetween the 360 and the HDD and lets you move stored files between the 360 and a PC easily.

    Ahem and Ahem

The 120GB HDD will probably need a software/firmware update or the device its self might have a modified chip in it which caters for the larger partition. There are mod chips on the market today which can unlock larger partitions I believe. I don't know how it will work but anything is possible with software these days.

That is my point though, if they are releasing a firmware update then it CAN be done, you just have to be patient before you use your own hard drive in it

My point is that you CAN do it, never said it was easy

I would doubt the extra hard drive would have a chip in it...

Surely you could create multiple 20Gb partitions and the 360 would pick up multiple hard drives, or is the 360 not able to pick up more than 1 HDD?

Heres hoping MS makes it possible to use any size HDD to try and eliminate the PS3's advantage of being able to use any HDD. Either by making it able to use USB drives properly, or releasing an empty hard drive thingy, that you can put your own laptop HDD in if you want to, or both

Gonna try and grab hold of that XSATA thing, I don't really need space, but it would be useful for backing up my saves just in case.
