Sucks how you have to keep the download window open
Yeah, that was annoying. It took about 15 minutes this morning to download (thought I'd have to leave it on when I went to work, must have caught the calm before the storm )
Had a quick look at the interface and character set up but didn't have time to actually play :/

Is there a way of speeding this up? Or is it just down to your connection. It's moved 1 percent in the last half an hour.

Mines going pretty speedy, think it's connection dependant, doesn't seem like the download servers are getting too hammered.
Or it might be they have a number of full speed download slots, and if all of those are full, you're put on a low speed one until a slot opens up.
You could try exiting and going back, the 360 remembers how much you've downloaded which is handy.
At 81% now, only been on for half and hour. It can't be connection related really, unless you have a VERY bad connection.
*I think* it's a combination of your connection and the number of people actually downloading the beta from XBL.
My connection is pretty good first thing in the morning (8mb) but by the time I get home it crawls (feels slower than dial up sometimes).
And the last time there was something that everyone was after on XBL the connection usually timed out for whatever it was before I could download it, but other things seemed to download ok (albeit a bit slower than usual).

On my PC I download things really quickly. I have 3MB. I'll cancel it and check the router thing you mentioned.

NAT can also get in the way of some games too so it's a good idea to have it sorted.
Customisation is better than Halo 2, but only just, would've been nice to be able to pick any colour you like.
Woot here I go, first game!
Cheers Tom, changed port on my router and seems to be speeding up now.

I don't know why but this seems so much better than Halo 2, the new weapons are pretty sweet, and the old ones feel completely different. The Assault Rifle is back, and it's actually pretty good, I think the clip size was reduced and the power increased. Brute spikers are great, especially when you have two dual wielded. Not got a chance to try out the new grenade since I need to find out what button switches grenades XD
New feature is pretty cool called Vetoing, if you don't like the map they give you in matchmaking, if over half the players veto the map/gametype it will switch. Matchmaking is also pretty cool as it actually tells you what it's searching for, ie. what skill range it's searching, will start off at a similar skill range, and then broaden it if it can't find a good game.
EDIT: Been prawning in a few games of rumble pit, unfortunately I've only been able to play on the Snowbound map which is a bit annoying.
EDIT2: Find all the sweet little feature now, if you go into your friends list and click on a friend from within Halo 3, the menu items change slightly so you can select to view their stats or send them a video file of some cool matches. Shame the stats aren't very comprehensive, it's basically a pic of your character, your emblem, GT, spartan code thing and what your highest skill level and total RP is. Would've been nice to see some extra stats like kills, deaths, specific skill levels, medals earned, etc.
BTW, my H3 stats are now in my sig if you fancy having a look at the new medals and stuff, the in-game stats page might not be great, but the bungie.net stats are very good.
