has ANYONE played chronicles of riddick - escape from butcher bay for the pc and can back me up on it? it really is a great fps!

    9.3/10 on Gamespot
    9/10 on Eurogamer
    93% on Firing Squad

a couple of quotes from those reviews:
There are very few games I recommend outright to anyone without hesitation. So let me just qualify: if you have any interest in first-person shooters, go get Riddick. Now.
Incredible blend of first-person shooting, stealth, and exploration; excellent story, dialogue, and characters; breathtaking visuals and audio; exquisite pacing--never a dull moment; great pc-exclusive content--new gameplay sequence and dvd-style commentary.
Never a dull moment; rich, constantly varied and surprising, technically excellent, well crafted and feeling somehow more imaginative and forward looking than probably any game sporting a film licence ever.

Yup, I have and I will (back you up). A great game. Pretty challenging in places.

Thanks for the info. Wouldn't have thought this was a good game at all (movie tie-in) but the reviews indicate it's a top game. Will definitely look into this.

I have riddick but I can't get the damn game working! Something about an OpenGL problem, there is a fix for it I found on the official forums, but I can't be bothered to deal with it right now.

sounds like you need the v1.1 patch - which you may need to run from your installed directory.

Or (from memory) you can use rivatuner to force which OpenGL version is used.

I like these games, some will stretch your processor, others will not, but in my opinion they're all good games:

    Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (RTS)
Half Life 2 & Half Life 2 Episode One (FPS)
    Call Of Duty 2 (FPS)
FEAR & expansion pack Extraction Point (FPS)
    PREY (FPS)
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (FPS, mostly)
    Painkiller Black Edition (FPS)
    TOCA Race Driver Three

    and I guess:

    Quake 4 (FPS)
    Doom 3 (FPS)

I played those through twice each and the Doom Expansion Pack, they look good, but both become repetitive.

I've just ordered Civilisation 1,2,3,4 with most expansion packs from Amazon for £15.00, it's on special offer atm.

Judging by the comments above, I'll have to check this Riddick game out, sounds good

I done a forum review of Riddick a good while ago now :

    http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=40483

Zak added a few pics also whilst talking about textures.

Tis a really good game, Shooter crossed with stealth elements. Granted more towards the end once you let the critters out it becomes more of a shooter. You also take control of the heavy armour suits in the PC version later in the game (exclusive to the PC version).

You can pick it up now for next to nothing also which is even better To this day the in house engine that was used for it looks great, character models and locations are all very different. Riddicks animation and the way he looks is so lifelike it is fantastic.

As for the OpenGL problem the 1.1 patch fixes it.

Stubbs the zombie is great fun, won't test your pc though as it came out a while ago now, but thought it was worth a mention for those who haven't played it.
