Problems connecting my xbox 360 online

Pipex broadband should work with a xbox 360 as i have checked but i plug my ethernet cable form my xbox 360 into my pc adn it comes up with you might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. This problem might of occured because the network did not assign the address to the computer. This was on my computer. On my xbox 360 it said Your consoel was unable to contact a lease with your DHCP server. Make sure your addresses are available with your server. I could do with some help. How have you connected the 360, through a router or straight from the modem?

yes, as then the connection can be shared between multiple devices such as computers, laptops and your 360. Your current setup I imagine is a usb modem plugged into your computer. You can share the internet through your computer if you want but its a pain to setup and your pc would have to be on each time you wanted to go on live. Plus you'd want to use a crossover cable to connect your 360 to your pc, not a straight through cable.

Yeah it's probably best to buy a router, I managed to get my PC to share the internet connection with my 360 but it was a right pain to get working.

Go to here and click on the "step-by-step connectivity guide" link. This may take a while to load as its an interactive guide. Just follow the instructions. But by the sounds of it you haven't got the right sort of cable to connect via ICS, you will need a cross-over cable.

You don't state what Operating System you're using though.

why ask that question - you're following the "Internet Connection Sharing" route of http://www.xboxemea.com/playtogether/xboxlivemanual/ right?

I don't know your friend, so forgive me, but there are thousands of knowledgable people here - I'd listen to them.

    Manuel?
