Got this delivered the other morning from America.
Damned good game and extremely funny.
Only downside to it is that all the levels are the same but with different backgrounds, you are either running about killing extreme masses of men or you are in a mounted cannon leveling tropps that are attacking and trying to get over the wall to whatever you are defending.
Difference with this and Giants is that each of the different settings (Marines, Water Woman and Kabuto) were different in play styles and variation.
Unfortunately with A n D is that its all the same, you even get a jetpack like on giants for arial combat on some of the levels.
All the enemies are either some sort of gun turret, a bowsman or a standard gunman / sniper. Occasionally you get a few people on jetpacks an airship or tower which launches missiles with deadly accuracy or this weird spinny thing and occasionally you get a big robot that looks like the one that is with you. Only different enemies are the wood monks one one of the levels as they are like black spectres (Kinda like the Scythe bearing Ghosts on Devil May Cry on the PS2) but they are really easy to kill on this just circling them and firing.
That past few levels I have done you have to rescue people and take them to their houses (Kinda like on Giants level 2 where you have to catch the smarties and take them to the drop off point except on Giants it was a separate level) on this they incorporate rescuing them and taking them to the houses with the other objectives which feels like its just been put there to prolong the level you are on especially when you get about 10 to rescue.
Weapons on it mainly are the sniper rifle, machine gun or standard rifle. When you get to the tavern you can pick up the shark launcher or mortar gun usually. Mortar gun is similar to the canon you get on Serious Sam but the Shark Launcher is really fun as you see the shark fin zipping around the floor and popping up eating the enemies which is pretty amusing but you usually miss it due to the sheer amount of enemies you are concentrating on . The secondary weapons you hardly need to use. The sticky bombs are best for taking out buildings, Black Hole box clears an area of enemies if you are getting swamped by sucking them into a temporary black hole, Punch Glove I have yet to succesfully use, Its a huge red boxing glove that he winds up like popeye and launches it if someone is close but its virtually impossible to get close to an enemy.
Finally the missions consist of blowing up a set amount of buildings, Rescuing People, wasting a particular enemy (Towers, Giant Robot etc) on a level, Stoping the troops from getting into a village by using a wall mounted canon. The objectives you get you usually complete by killing certain enemies to clear the way then you get the cutscene to whatever you were trying to do (One level you have to find keys to a woodland gate, after killing all the enemies on the previous level you get the scene where they are getting the keys)
Must admit the cutscenes do tick the game along nicely as it has a pretty good story and they are extremely amusing like when you're robot replaces the sign to a village with one for an old folks nursing home so the army attack the nursing home instead of the village but it adds another pointless level of blowing up enemy buildings.
Would definately download as many demos of this as possible and play them through before buying it as its literally just constantly like the bit with the marines on Giants. Yeah its good and very playable but not much variation in it at all.
