    Gaming Headphones

Hi all, I'm after some good headphones but don't have a clue about what to get. What's a good make and should I go for wired or wireless set. I want a set with a detachable microphone as well. I saw the Fatal1ty ones for £26 but are they any good?

    Any advice is appreciated...

if i may ask, why a detachable mic? if your going that route you may as well get the nicest headphones you can, and just buy a clip on mic seperately....

Gaming headset wise I love my sennheiser pc150's.....the newer pc55's are around £35 afaik....but the mic is permanent.

I want a detachable mic so that I can use it for other stuff like on an mp3 player etc. It's more of a cosmetic thing with the mic.

your probably best getting a boom mic and a decent set of headphones then?

i use the medusa headset (speedlink), the version with the amp included. pretty good, and relatively cheap, around £35 iirc

The razer barracuda HP-1 headphones are real good, had these for a month and can't find a fault with them yet!

I highly recommend the Sennheiser PC160 SK Gaming headset - the mic isn't detachable but I just rotate it up out of the way. The sound quality is spot on and they're so comfortable I'm happy to wear them all day long if I have to. Can't recommend them highly enough and picked mine up from eBay.

Many of us gamers at dMw use medusa 5.1 surround sound headphones.

They're crystal clear and the surround sound is superb.

    +1.

Headphone wise, I love my sennheiser HD202 (spot a theme here?) although they are a little chunky for wearing in the street!

so whats the difference between the 'SpeedLink Medusa SL-8796 5.1 Home Edition + 5.1 Amplifier'

and 'SpeedLink Medusa SL-8793 5.1 ProGamer Edition'. What does the amplifier give you for significantly more money?

(Sorry for resurrect, but you may still not have an answer

The amp lets you plug in two sets of headphones, which is - in theory (I didn't like the cans) - a good way of letting two people, for instance, watch a film together, without disturbing family/neighbours.

(That's certainly why I bought them, anyway...)
