    FEAR - quite literally

Downloaded the FEAR demo to give my new 8800GTS a run for it's money...I'd played it before on my AGP card, and didn't think the atmosphere could be much improved on with a couple of graphical tweaks, but after slamming everything up to maximum at 1600x1200, I must admit I crapped my pants.

Arm hairs standing on end, shivers down my spine, and hesitating before every corner. FANTASTIC!!!

Plus great AI, cool weapons, great slow mo (the close up kills with the shotgun leaving nothing but bloody mist hanging in the air are just stunning....in a really sick kind of way ), and the best atmosphere I've seen in a long time.

Going to pick up FEAR Gold tomorrow if I get the chance....awesome game.

action wise I thought it was pretty good, really good actually. Best AI use of grenades Ive ever seen.

the atmosphere created was generally really good, I felt it was quite badly let down by a really flimsy story though. I thought the final scene was impressive though

The multiplayer is a bit good, maybe a bit too fast paced for my personal liking but all the bullets and bullet holes and flying shards of walls make it an awesome experience.

FEAR is a great game - I also liked the expansion, Extraction Point for a bit more of the same...

Ext Pt is abit of a half baked expansion..

But the original is still one of the best games IMO.. But 18 for the lot is a good deal..

Does the FEAR Gold edition contain both the main game and the expansion, or is it something else?

Yup, main game and extraction point. Arrived this morning, and is sitting in my bag ready to be installed upon getting home.

I actually saw just FEAR in GAME (I think) this morning in their 2 for £15 pile. There's also a 3 for £10 with GTA II as one of the games. Sorely tempted, but don't want to be distracted from FEAR....
