Gears of War help - How to kill the final bad guy!

    Hi all

New 360 owner and I'm well stuck on what I figure is the final fight of the game. Im on the moving train and the big boss dude with all the kryll flying around him is dominating me every time. What's the best way to deal with him? I've been taking cover and waiting for his kryll shield to fly off (how is this triggered?) and shooting his ass with the chainsaw machine gun but he aint dying! Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

Firstly, it depends on what difficulty setting your playing on. Generally though, it is a good idea to either have the torque bow or sniper and wait for his shield to disappear. Then just shoot him in the head with the sniper or torque.

On casual this works after just a few shots. On insane though, it may require you to move around the train to avoid him getting close to you.

If you still have difficulty killing him, shoot him with the lancer until he reaches your initial position, then run past him and use the turret against him.

It took me about 30 tries to kill him on casual.... To get the kryll off him you have to draw him into the light or he him self has to walk into the light or you can shoot him with the torque bow iirc. When that happens unload as many rounds onto him as possible, preferably near his head. Do this about 6-8 times and he should go down like a sack of erm sugar. It helps if you can get a few torque bow shots in as well if you haven't already, and if he comes near you lob a couple of frags at him. It is best to do this when your crouched behind a wall and he is just diagonally off to your left or right on the other side of it. When in this sort of position lob a frag over while crouching and then unload a clip on him while still crouched. Everyone seems to have their own way of defeating him though.

I think I used 12 shots of the torque bow and most of the 600 rounds of Lancer ammo before this big fella went down... I thought he was invulnerable at first!

Nice one guys - Seems I just need to be a little more patient with the bugger, I didn't realise that you could get him to loose the kryll by moving into shadow. Cheers all!

Its the light. The kryll die in the light not the shadows, so they avoid the light when they can .

But he'll release them if you move into the shadows right? Figured that I'd do that, wait for him to send 'em my way, get myself back into light and slot him... Am I getting this the wrong way round?

no no lol. I see what your saying but if you move into the shadows and stay in them you will die in a matter of seconds; the kryll will have you for lunch. When you move back to the light the kryll fly right back to him I think. Even running through shadows to reach a lighted area can be tricky. You need to stay in the light as much as possible really and draw big boss guy into the light and then get him. He walks into the light on his own accord anyway on times but it is quicker if you fire a torque bow shot at him. The kryll will fly off him for a number of seconds when it explodes and this is your opportunity to unload a clip or whatever else you have onto him.

    Pfft, waiting.

    Torque bow and Sniper.

Hit him with the torque bow, Kryll fly off. Whip out the sniper rifle, get as many headshots in as you can. Active reload helps a lot. Rinse and repeat. If he gets too close, blind throw some grenades and leg it to the other side and start again. It's helps if you have someone else controlling Dom because he has a tendency to get in the way otherwise. If you do end up doing it coop then you want to have a torque bow each.

Here's him taken down in 30 seconds on Insane: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0_jyTEHwy0A

Hmm - I dont tend to carry the torque bow, annoys me. I'll see if I can back track and find one lying around on the train.
