    Re: 360 or PS3?

At the moment its a complete no brainer - the 360 is the choice if your only going to get one high def console gaming. As the guys on Consolevania say, the PS3 is an "if" console, if you already have a Wii and Xbox 360, if you can truely and properly afford it and if you have a HDTV, then the PS3 is a worthy purchase. Otherwise the 360 is where its at, the multi-format titles (which these days is the vast majority) are on the 360 first and in most cases are actually superior in quality, the online system is unparraleled, the controllers are pure class (not a giant leap back to 1996) and now it comes with an unmatched 3 year warranty. HD-DVD can be added if you so desire, as can wireless LAN, you are not forced to pay for either if you don't want it.

As for "PS3 will come into its own in 3 years" comments it may be the case, but by then we'll be looking forward to the imminent release of Xbox 3 which will trounce the by then ageing PS3.

Personally I'd always choose the console that has the games I want to play. Currently this is the 360 and will be the case for the foreseeable future. It's not a matter of liking Microsoft or Sony cause they'll both shaft you for your cash!

I think you've highlighted the difference between the 360 and the PS3 right there - you need to be directed via links to see both of the 360's problems, but the list of the PS3's problems, not to mention Sony's problems, goes on and on... and in a way, that's the PS3's greatest strength. It's entertaining everyone on the Internet - particularly those who don't have one! The sales figures for the PS3 may have stopped at 4.2million, but the number of people it is entertaining is in the 100s of millions, and we don't have to pay a thing. Thank you, Jack Tretton!

(Incidentally, that's kinda the reason I almost bought one last week guilt)

    Re: 360 or PS3?

The PS3 is the best console i have ever bought to be honest. And i did once own a 360 it sounded like a boeing 707 during take off tbh. The sony is whisper quiet during full use and never overheats. (im sure there is an article somewhere, where i read they tried to overheat it and make it self explode which included putting it in a sauna and it still never broke!).

It has perfect quality in Blu-rays and upscaling dvd's. I cant be more happy I guess its a matter of taste but the image quality along with my Sony D3000 is superb.

It has also never crashed, not unlike the 360. Im not a Sony fanboy im just stating my opinion having owned both consoles. There is more games available for the 360 granted, but it has been out longer so what do you expect? Role on Metal Gear Solid 4

I did buy it mainly as a blu-ray player though so in my opinion it is well worth the £425 i paid for it.

    Re: 360 or PS3?

At the moment its the 360 without question, theres nothing wrong with the PS3 as a console itself and as others have said its quiet and reliable, very much so when compared to the 360 (mine has delta fans and makes a racket).

I was going to buy one for multifromat titles to have them on a more reliable console but with the 3 year RRoD warranty and having seen many comparisons of 360 and PS3 multiformat titles disfavouring the PS3 I backed away.

    Re: 360 or PS3?

I really like my PS3, it's nice and quiet, Blu Ray and DVD's look great. There is a very limited choice in games at the moment compared to the 360, which is quite annoying.

I personnaly wouldn't pay for xbox live as I don't spend much time playing on line to justiy paying for it, so it's nice that all the PS3 stuff is free.

Some people here refer to the 'list of PS3 problems', but I can't say I've come a cross any myself, apart from the backward compatabilty but that's fairly minor.

It's all down to the individual anyway, I don't think one is hugley better than the other, they practally do the same things anyway.

I thought the 360's 3 year warrently came about because of the faults with them didn't it?, so that's not exactly a good thing as MS are kinda saying they are likey to go wrong within 3 years.

    Lmao

You mean to say Penguinjim is actually a real life penguin? If this is the case then im calling the rspca regarding the above attack

Your a lucky boy gtech, when i was 13 we didn't even have the Internet at home

    Back on topic...

The only console with enough quality games to justify the purchase price right now is the 360.
The PS3 is getting better though and when there are some decent games and a price drop, I'll be having a dabble myself

Gamestation seem to have some ok deals on the still extortionately priced PS3 at the moment. £400 for a system with an extra controller and a couple of games is erm.. well.. a bit better than £425 just for the standalone system i suppose. Or £425 with an extra game. Still with no sign of MGS4 and GT anytime soon, its probably best to wait for a price cut.

Wait to see if the 360 price drops and then pick up a nice bundle with Gears and Bioshock + extra controller. That should set you up nicely. Your going to want the HDTV though

lol, you only have yourself to blame, stop posting like a fan boy and people won't post things like that. No one likes fan boy comments and both you and Barrichello are the worst culprits, so get used to being ridiculed or change your ways
