    Your ideal game

I saw some thread on another forum where people where discussing what their ideal game would be like, if they could make it.

One person said something like: Modern setting, but with a slight fictional twist (like Gabriel Knight did). With RPG elements. And Metal Gear Solid gameplay, but with more freedom of movement etc.

I reckon that would go some way towards making something I would really love. Some of them sounded great anyway. What would you all make?

A game that is bug free and stops ar*ehat hackers spoiling it from the beginning with regular upgrades... bliss

    Re: Your ideal game

A sequel to Deus Ex, with the map size and freedom of Flashpoint/Armed Assault, and the sneak/grapple dynamics of Riddick: Butcher Bay bolted onto it. Using something that looked and acted like the Crysis Engine.
Drive cars, fly planes, snap necks, hack turrets, read books, and shoot people, using your nanite-enhanced capabilities in a series of dystopian far-future cities, towns and wilderness areas, each covering 1000km2 or so, while solving complicated paranoia-inducing missions. With full co-op mode and easy-to use mission editor.

It would cost about a billion dollars to build properly and once you bought it you would have to quit your job and become single in order to play it 18 hours a day

    Re: Your ideal game

I'd like something like an online Elite which you wouldn't need to read/play for 24 hours a day for several weeks until you're aware of the complexities/races/etc. but could just dip in and out of easily. I'd try Eve but it looks way too complex to get into lightly.. (waits for Eve players to start foaming at me!)

a real world with top notch gfx around every corner, so u actually feel like its real life. Every little detail added, and you can actually live there, then work on a daily basis, get flights to other countries, go on holidays, go out on a friday etc, meet people. Like second life, but with gfx that are Realistic.

    Re: Your ideal game

i want a game which visually says "wow" to me. not wow in the "i have lots of polygons" sense, in the "makes enormous visual impact" sense. examples of the best looking games ever include killer 7, okami, rez, and jet set radio.

i want a game which plays like my favourite games - i want a story, whilst still getting freedom of choice and actions. i want characters deep enough that i care about their welfare or demise. examples of the best stories include the zelda titles, deus ex, system shock 2

i want a game which is bigger than you think it is, with false final bosses and so on. examples here would be chrono trigger and dead rising

i want a game where i'm so engaged with the story, once i finish it i wander around in a depressed daze for days because it's all gone :'(

    anyone care to deliver?

And you can access virtual hexus forum and post there what your ideal game is isn't it?

I also like to experience very realistic virtual world and see things from other things point of view. I personally want to become a cat and wander around neighbors house and let them feed me nice food and let them call me by 50 different names Or swim in the sea as a turtle or maybe become man-eating crocodile and feed on neaby villagers and get shot eventually. I can be a piece of rubbish for a day and travel with dustman until I finally burnt down to death. It's not quite a game but something like that could be unexpectedly entertaining maybe, who knows.

Cracking list there Hexxy as normal, I agree on most the points but the games also got to have a storyline thats quite deep. None of this boring malarkey it's got to grip you from the very beginning and keep you held until the credits at the end scroll up the screen.

Most games now seem to think that graphics > *.*. Whereas, a seasoned gamer probably goes for gameplay and playability over graphics.

Yeah that sort of game has been on my 'dream list' for quite a while now as well. I played EVE for a year or so, but it started feeling more like second job, so I lost interest.

The game you describe there, to me, is Oblivion on the PC to a tee. Only you never truly 'finish' Oblivion. I just decided I had played it enough and even though I dont want to play it, I miss it in a way lol.
