But could GPUs be redundant? Yes, very easily, especially with the companies working out how to add FP specific units to normal CPUs.

Will they be redundant? No, because it's in the manufacturers interest to keep them descrete. Low end cards will become redundant in not all that much time at all, but enthusiasts will be catered for almost exclusively by a descrete product.

True, true. Maybe GPUs will in time become just another CPU on a card. Admittedly we'll have more cores than we know what to do with already, but then rather than completely replacing a CPU you could just add another one alongside it on a card!

Enough OT. PPU-specific levels in UT3 are disappointing to me and not the way to go, the rest of it looks great, can't say I played Assault much, loved Onslaught, this is the one I have been most looking forward to, even more than Crysis. But I do hate people just bouncing up and down and shooting so I hope they've toned that down.

I think they look, cool. If you didnt notice in the video, he says whilst riging you are very vunerable as you cannot attack, once you are hit, you fall off, drop whatever you were carrying, and then have to pick it up again, whislt being shot at while your on the floor..

I really hope UT3 is more like UT99... I never really got into UT2003 or 2004 - but I must admit I think in many ways the leaked version of 2003 did kind of ruin many aspects of the game. I know so many people who didn't even bother playing the retail version because the leak ran so badly on their PC's at the time. ( retail obviously being much better )

Does anyone know the release date? I've seen end of this month or end of next month.... anyone confirm?

2004 was a lot better than 2003, and the 2003 performance issues were not limited to the demo, the retails version was dump too

As I said above ^^^, I have read that it is. They have apparently toned the jumping around like an idiot feature down. You should be on your feet more than your in the air, which is good.
