Thumbs up UT3, I really cannot wait! :D

Just came across this cool video of a Dev taking you through a UT3 level showing you all the vehicles, whilst showing some weapons and parts of the level too.

    HD link: (on ps3)
    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24261.html

How awsome does that stasis field weapon that slows down anything that enters into its field?? The visuals look amazing, great shadows on the character and the level looks really detailed too. And it looks as though the faced paced UT gameplay will still be apparent, but i hope it doesnt change because of all the new details and things that are possible. I really cannot wait for this game now, i just hope its as good as i expect it to be.

    part 2 HD: (on PC)
    http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24281.html

A look at one of my favourite gametypes, Onslaught The orbs look like they will really add to the gameplay here where new tactics of winning the game will probably come down to this orb. Looks really fun.

    anyway enjoy.

Game play is supposed to be like the original UT; Less jumping and dodging involved. Which would suit me because it drives me mad when thats all people do is jump up and down like a kangaroo whilst firing at you.

Just a wild question, but seeing as you're building a PC pretty much around UT3, are you considering a PPU?

    Re: UT3, I really cannot wait! :D

    Thanks for the links!

I've been looking forward to this game for a couple of years now. UT2k7 is high on my list of favourite FPS's. I am really dying for this new one. Its mainly the Onslought mode that attracts me. I think I enjoyed that mode even more than I enjoy the likes of Battlefield 2 / 2142.

I liked that aspect. Although, not enough to really miss it if it goes.

I assume PPU is a PhysX card?

If so then yes... I'm still debating!! I think I will build the PC first and depending on how it runs I may pick one up, they aren't too expensive after all

    Re: UT3, I really cannot wait! :D

If I can fit a PPU in, yes I'll buy one since a lot of games will be using the UT3 engine in future and hopefully will include better and more realistically used (not - Oh! A pile of boxes! I must knock that over and marvel at the physics!) physics. However it will be the last thing I buy as a very very optional component.

Must say I'm looking forward to UT3. Haven't really gotten into it since Unreal Tournament (played 2004 a bit, was OKish at best).

    Re: UT3, I really cannot wait! :D

    Alright for you two then....

    I'm still running a Pentium 4 with a 9800XT!!!

I think that might struggle, some how!

I really hope UT3 is more like UT99... I never really got into UT2003 or 2004 - but I must admit I think in many ways the leaked version of 2003 did kind of ruin many aspects of the game. I know so many people who didn't even bother playing the retail version because the leak ran so badly on their PC's at the time. ( retail obviously being much better )

Does anyone know the release date? I've seen end of this month or end of next month.... anyone confirm?

    Re: UT3, I really cannot wait! :D

hmm i dont think its that early, a few websites say september, but i heard it was to be coming out november'ish but im not entirely sure. Im pretty sure it wont be out next month as there are no specs released, hardly any media apart from E3 stuff, and no news about it at all really.#

Edit:- this looks about right: (note date is 01/08/07 not 08/01/07, months are other way around)

the game wont come out till novemeber.UT ran like a dream on very old machines but i doubt his new one will run on anything older than 3 years im afraid. your 9800xt wont cut it at all. i think a 6800gt is the minimum for UT3 to run on.

aint bioshock using the Unreal engine?

    Yep, bioshock is using UE3.

Just came across another cool video showing physics, looks awsome. Is it me or is nearly EVERYTHING have physics on it!

    Like HL2?

I think a 6800GT will be great for this. I would still be using mine if gf hadn't needed it - she still plays games like Oblivion and TDU on near max details and it flies.
