Re: Bioshock specs

I play at highest settings in DX9. And if I installed Vista, it would run at highest settings in DX10 too.

I actually also use my graphics card tweaks to force the game to use anti-aliasing. Although I read that that doesn't work in DX10 because the game is.. silly. (Thats partly why I am sticking with XP for now).

No choppy performance for me at all, although I got the occasional hitch - but that went away after I ran a defrag.

My pc is C2D E6600, 2gig of ddr2 ram, 8800gtx, 320gig seagate barracuda, gigabyte ds4 motherboard (965p). I play at 1680x1050. (everything at stock speed - no overclocking at all).

p.s. For Vista 64 bit, its best to use 4 gig of ram. I use 2 because I'm just using XP.

    Re: Bioshock specs

I have near Max specs, with Dx10.

    Just V/sync off

Have to use the Beta drivers for the 8800 other wise you can get some issues with frame rate/tearing.

    Edit
    Forgot to add, 1280 x 1024

Are you running XP or Vista? Im suprised you can run highest settings @1680x1050. My system is not 100% smooth at those settings and my mates PC, which has got a 512mb x1900xt is the same as mine.

    Re: Bioshock specs

    XP home.

I think the x1950xt is a bit faster than the x1900xt and 7900GTO in shader heavy games. The GTO does better on doom3 engine and texture heavy games like gothic 3.

    What are your RAM timings?

People always argue about this. Its generally accepted that anthing below 30fps is choppy, ideally you want about 60+fps on average. Some people will argue though.

My CPU is running at 3Ghz and my RAM is running on a divider at about 250mhz at 3-4-4-8 (stock timings at that speed). I doubt its CPU or RAM making a difference though.

Admittedly, Im not using the latest nvidia beta drivers, which are specifically for Bioshock, because. They're very buggy in CoH and a couple of other games.
