    Argggh!

Been trying to release the drive on my 360 for the past 15 minutes to get my Halo3 disc out, as its going back to the shop tomorrow, and the POS will not open. The little hole when jabbed with a pin does nothing!

So now I can't send the thing back because my game, which I got from GamePlay is trapped inside.

Microsoft, you are incompetent cowboys, and I hope everyone invovled in the design of this console dies of AIDS. AIDS of the face.

There are 3 different holes you can poke (ooh err) with a paperclip to get the drive to open. See picture here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906935/en-us

And now the eject is working... as is the console... Halo booted, red rings are gone.

What the **** is going on with this thing?

    Seriously...

    Re: Argggh!

I fixed my RROD by unplugging everything, starting it up and plugging everything back in, but then it died again a few days later and stayed dead. Don't get your hopes up!

It's the one thing that can at time be more problematic more than a device dying - that it does so inconsistently. Always makes me nervous to send the device and be told that there is nothing for it, and therefore I have to pay for the shipping (with a risk that the problem my re-occur).

    Re: Argggh!

    Well, so far:

Red rings, then I was trying to get the disc out, then 4 red rings, not 3, then no rings, then the disc started spining, so I got it out, then the 4 rings were flashing much faster than normal, like really fast on and off. The I turned it off and back on, and for now at least, its working again - green rings.

It might be a flawed console design, but its never boring owning a 360 Elite.

And this wasn't a standard unplug and replug, it has been stone dead for 3 days, I tried it loads of times.

    Re: Argggh!

4 red rings means the video cable isn't plugged in properly. The faceplate diffuses the light a bit so 3 rings could look like 4, if it happens again take it off to check what lights are flashing.

But what if I've got the Rocky Balboa of Xboxes? It was down, taken a beating, everyone thought it was over, then... it staggers to its feet, swinging punches, punches from the heart! Down goes the Russian machine! Adriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiian!

Lets give the punk a chance to proove itself.

    Re: Argggh!

Thing is, if I send it back, the repair monkey turns it on, it works, and then what?

Best to wait until it dies?
