Worth buying a PS3 without HD TV?

Got a 32" JVC TV, was left in house when i moved in. Want a PS3 but not sure if its worth it without a HD TV.

Anyone give me some guidance or experience they have had/seen?

I got my PS3 when I had a CRT TV which was fine, but it looks rather uninspiring so I got an HDTV, which makes a huge difference.

Is it worth it without an HDTV? I say not really considering how much it cost. You'll have to put up with a lower resolution so you won't benifit from the HD output from Bluray or the full next gen-graphics.

As i thought. Na just feel like i want a new console, and the xbox looks to risky of a purchase with the break downs. my m8 jsut got one and had good fun playing formula 1 and fifa08 on it

on an SDTV, for gaming, get the best-value SD console around: a ps2, with all the best games released for it, for less than half what a ps3 would set you back

It looks fine on SD but you just get more in shiny HD.

Tho I would say why a PS3? Get a Wii or 360.

i dont think so... would be nice if it did. because i relly dont want to buy a PS3 AND a HDTV for GT5. i have monitors! they are good! i want to use them! like i do with the 360

Well you can still play your ps3 only thing is you would get 480p and not the full 1080p resolution. As the ps3 includes the blueray player as well, i would say it would be worth spending a bit on a decent full hd tele. Try the new samsungs, they are great for gaming with there gaming modes and low respond rates. Or as you said just get a pair of mointors that support HDMI connection or DVI and that should do great!

given the ps3 game selection is lacklustre right now at best, i'd strongly recommend getting a ps2 for sdtv play

I played Oblivion on a couple of different resolutions on the PS3 - while the X360 version looks fine at others, the PS3 one looks rubbish at anything other than 1080, IMHO.

PS3 is the best console i have ever bought but tbh without a hdtv it isnt worth it. Just get a ps2 or a wii (if u can find one)
