An Appropriate screen to display your eye candy on...

I've been on hexus a long while and can remember a thread that Zak probably started several years ago, focusing on Screen size and quality to show off the latest graphic cards of the time. I was thinking through some of the most satisfying purchases i've made in computing and have to say a lot of them come down to screen quality and real estate to show off what power exists beneath the hood.

So its time hexus to own up to whether you've really got an appropriate screen for what your machine is. Why, because i think i have to hold my hands up and say that my desktop trusty 17" Hyundai LCD is past its best, its run my last three rigs and playing UT3 last night, sure it looked great, but how much greater would it have looked on a 24" or when my new TV turns up in 40"....

So hexus, how much does your screen say about you...

well, my personal opinion is that desktops should have died for everything but servers by now. so 17" or 15.4"

I'll have to try the UT3 demo through the 24" and then see what it looks like on the 40" Then i'll let you know how awesome it looks. Will you be getting a new GFX card to go with whatever you decide?

BTW what 40" have you gone for? or need i ask?

Im currently using my 40" Bravia for my pc. Looks very nice too

Driver support is spot on from nvidia for it as well, eveything fits and scales with no trouble at all.

22" for my PC too! For consoles I think as big as you can get. We only have a 37" plasma.

What model? I connected my PC to my W2000, looked very good, but wouldn't support the full res. Thinking of trying again but with Powerstrip installed and forcing the res.

Re: An Appropriate screen to display your eye candy on...

I'm on a 30" LCD - I use two 19" side by side at work and the bar between the two screens gets on my wick - so I took advantage of my M&S More Card's 12 month 0% interest and got an HP LP3065 with which I'm immensely happy.

    ever think about a laptop?

and seriously, i would never advocate purchasing a microsoft console, if you want a console get a PS3 and it can run open office
