    Must Have Games...

    Must Have Games...

So it's been a while since I've played pc games and I really mean a while. Last time I properly played a pc game I think it was the likes of UT2003 and Morrowind etc.

Since I'm building a rig now I'd like to ask you guys what are the must have current games?

    I'm thinking....

    Oblivion
    UT3
    Crysis
    The Witcher
Hellgate (Heard crap things about it but I didn't mind Diablo 2 )
    Sam&Max

Cant think of anything else right now it's a bit late. So yeah I'll put this to you guys, reccommend me some games that I must play in the so many years I've missed out on

Also what's the going price for pc games these days? I'm pretty sick of paying £35-£45 for a xbox 360 or nintendo wii game.

    Thanks,

    Richie Lee

    Re: Must Have Games...

well, you've definitely missed quite a few stellar games sine then. I had a stop gap too a few years ago until I built my rig (pic sig) 2 years ago.

Depends on what genre of games you like but ones that I feel are recomended are:

    Oblivion (without a doubt!)
    Quake 4
    Quake Wars
    Doom 3
    F E A R
    S T A L K E R
    Age of Empires 3
    Command & Conquer 3
    Flight Sim X
Half Life 2 (Orange box is latest)
    Prey
    Far Cry
    Lost Planet
    Bioshock
    Battlefield 2
    Colin Mcrae DiRT
Call of Duty 2 (and 4)
Dark Messiah of might and magic
    Company of Heroes

Not played but heard good things:

    Total Wars Medieval 2
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II
    Neverwinter Nights 2
    Civ 4
    Pirates
    WOW
    Guild wars

Games will cost around £10-£20 (mostly) or possibly cheaper for some of the older titles.
    Cavalier-X: Biostar TP45-HP ¦ E4600@3.1ghz - Xigmatek Red Scorpion (OCZ Freeze) ¦ OCZ ReaperX 2x2gb (792mhz @ 4-4-4--12) ¦ Xigmatek NRP-MC651 ¦
    Palit 8800gt ¦ X-fi Fatal1ty Gamer ¦ Coolermaster Cavalier 3 (Silver/Windowed) ¦

    Poseidon Magma: MSI P45 Zilent ¦ E6300@3.0ghz - Coolermaster Hyper 212 (MX-2) ¦ Corsair 2x2gb (880mhz @ 5-5-5-15) ¦ Corsair HX450w ¦
    xfx 9600gt Alphadog edition (780/1950/1000) ¦ X-fi Gamer ¦ Gigabyte Poseiden ¦

    Re: Must Have Games...

If you're going to get Crysis, then Far Cry is going to seem pretty out of date.

Prey I didn't think was anything special. Novel, but that's about it.

Doom 3 just went on, and on, and on, and on, and on.....and on....Perhaps worth it if you can pick it up from a bargain bin somewhere, but considering the amount of gaming you've got to catch up on, just a waste of time.

Don't play World of Warcraft. It will destroy your life and you'll never play anything else. Mind you, that goes for most of the games on that list.

For FPS I'd certainly second FEAR, BioShock, and UT3 (although I've only played the demo.....it's great)

It was the first game to feature a realistic looking anus though. For that alone it's worth having.

    Yes! This! Play this one!

It's on Steam now for not very many moneys, so there's no excuse.

While you're there, get Portal. Short, but utterly fantastic - best game since Psychonauts.

And also one of the buggiest games I've ever played.

I was a die hard fan of operation flashpoint, but Arma is pee poor. Plot: "Yes, we'll send a private soldier behind enemy lines with a LAW and you can kill everything"

    I will recommend:

    RTS
Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour
    Command & Conquer 3
    Company of Heroes
    Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts
Medieval II: Total War (haven't got expansion yet, supposedly good?)
    Age of Empires 3

    FPS
    Orange Box
    Bioshock
    UT2004 (for online play)
    Battlefield 2
    Battlefield 2142

    Other
    Civilization IV
    Settlers VI, for a laugh
    Flatout 2
    Evil Genius (fun!)

    Think that's about it.

    cor....cool question

Quake 4. Deffo, it's great, and replayable.

    FEAR.....bloody terrifying and very exciting

    UT 3 the demo...it's free.

If you've got an older PC, Return to Castle Wolfenstien is great.

and online only....lots of World of Warcraft people here...but I'm a Lineage 2 man
but that's more a "lifestyle choice"
