Hey all,
Anyone know if its possible to play NFS:U 2 in 1680x1050? The highest resolution on offer is 1280x1024, and I can't find any config files to fiddle with to try manually setting a higher res.
Thanks,
Mut.

I've found widescreen gamer a good resource for all things widescreen.
Not tried this, but looks like it might do what you're after: widescreengamingforum .com/wiki/index.php/UniWS (can't post URLs yet).
Woo, my first post on here after a year of just reading.![]()
EA are notoriously bad for adding widescreen settings to there games, the battlefield series is the best example

I'm not convinced by it though.
I'll see what the widescreen forums say about NFSu2 - thanks!

FYI from aforementioned WSGF:
UniWS - WSGFWiki
Its a utility called UniWS. Extract after DL and run, select Need for Spped Underground 2 from the list, txen browse to the original exe. Once thats been found, then enter in the res you want (in this case 1680x1050) and hit patch.
Then in the game, go to the options and select 640x480. This triggers your custom resolution. It also works for NFS Carbon - you have to rename the exe to "speed2" but then its the same process. I know it does as i just completed it again, not 10 minutes ago.
Let me know if there are probs

Edit: Doh - just saw someone else posted it. Which proves I'm not lying![]()

Good post too. Widescreengamingforum is a great place. They actually originally set up, with the plan to produce lots of fixes for games that do not natively support widescreen. Unfortunately (for them), widescreen gaming has become so common that most games support it natively, and therefore their little fixes where not needed. So now they seem to just be focusing on being a forum.
But they do still have people there who can code the fixes, and they do have sections dedicated to getting games to work in widescreen that don't as default.
Another good thing about them is that they do good reviews of WS capabilities of games. Now, a lot of games have native WS support, but WSGF sees whether or not certain resolutions work or not, and if the FOV is correct - ie. Widescrren should mean that your horizontal view is increased, but often (as was the case with Stalker, UT3 and also Bioshock) you get a full screen but your are basically seeing a zoomed in 4:3 image.
Anyway - sorry to go off thread - they are good place to check everytime there is a new game you've bought.
