    The Witcher

So, what do you guys think of it? I got all excited and pre-ordered it from DVD.co.uk, but I'm suddenly now having second thoughts. I liked KOTOR, but this seems....different. At first it seemed like a 'good' different but now I'm not so sure....

The whole moral greyness is what caught me, I guess....

    Re: The Witcher

Can't put into words how much I'm looking forward to this game. Feel free to pass off my comments as the raving madness of a fanboy though - I've been following the game for some time, and had quite a bit of playing it (non-final versions obviously). It *is* amazing.

It is also quite different from KOTOR - KOTOR was quite strategic, felt very much like you had the same D20/D&D sytem underneath in that you had rounds etc. also the areas in KOTOR felt quite small. The Witcher feels much more real time, especially the combat which is more actiony but not a mindless click-fest. The areas are much more open, and the environments are really stunning.

Of course, the moral greyness is great as well - the setting is really fantastic and they've actually managed to get across the feeling of it very well. I think initially I was worried that the lack of an obvious good or evil route would annoy me, but it seems ok - you just need to relax and go into the game with a slightly more open mind - take on the persona of Geralt and you get right into the game.

    Re: The Witcher

I got a bit excited about this last week and pre-ordered. I'm definitely looking forward to it - there looks like it should be more interesting than Bioware's offerings have been of late (still can't bring myself to play through NWN2 due to the inability to slit the throats of 2/3rds of my party. All they need to add to the game is a "stab party member in face until dead" button, and I'd be happy to play through the rest of the game...)

Um, back to The Witcher - looks as if it's definitely worth a shot. I much prefer the fact that there doesn't seem to be an obvious good or evil path to go down. Should make things far more interesting...

Hmmm... I cancelled my pre-order but Kalniel has sold it to me again! I guess seeing as its so cheap, ill pre-order it, and if i don't like it, just sell it on eBay or these very forums....

Hehe thanks kalniel, you put into words pretty much exactly what I used to think about this game!

Well, I wrote this a while ago:

LYON, FRANCE – 11 October 2007 – Atari today announced details of the European Limited Edition of highly anticipated role-playing game The Witcher scheduled for simultaneous launch with the game across Europe on October 26. Developed by CD Projekt in Warsaw, Poland, The Witcher will be available exclusively for Windows.

    LOL

If you're not sure then, unless you're getting a discount or something else for pre-ordering, I don't generally see the point. Games don't go off and they're just as enjoyable a week later

    Re: The Witcher

Well if you preorder from somewhere like game (in store) then you get double rewards points... eg. money off. Also if you dont buy it you've not spent money anyway.
