    Play.com Game Deliveries

Has anyone else got any delayed orders from Play?

I had an email to say PES 2008 was posted on Tuesday and its still not here. Anyone getting the same issues with Royal Mail deliveries from play?

Im just wondering whether to cancel my other pre-orders with Play until the postage gets sorted. I've got Crysis, UT 3, COD 4 and Gears of War all on order.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

Personally, I've always found stuff coming from play takes ages, so I'm stopping using them. Stuff would get despatched at the same time from play as other companies, yet arrive a day or more later... despite all being via Royal Mail. Last order despatched Tuesday last week and it still hasn't arrived! I guess it must be something to do with where they are shipping from; I thought that mail was back to normal by now?

Yeah, they've always been a bit slow with me - but I like their prices usually!

I've always found Play's delivery to be quite slow, I use UK Online DVD Shop and Video Games Consoles Superstore - ShopTo.Net a lot now because of their fantastic delivery promise.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

I've always had slow delivery from Play but its just one of the things I accept when buying dirt cheap things with free delivery... If i want it fast I either order from somewhere like Amazon and pay alot of next day or go out and buy it.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

My Orange Box from Gameplay, ordered last Monday and apparently dispatched 1st class on Tuesday, still isn't here a week later. I think there's still some postal delays as a long-term result of the strike. That said, someone on the Bargains forum ordered some RAM last Weds and got it Friday.

Play's stuff comes from Jersey so I'd expect it to take a day longer than other companies. I like Play but only when they've got an exceptional saving on something. Never had any major delays with them except the very first time I used them when a DVD didn't show. I emailed about it and got sent a replacement immediately - so I think their customer service is very good.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

I used to like Play, and just accepted that their free shipping takes about five working days. But for the last 6+ months I've found their service to be extremely poor - I wonder if they've had a change of service or something? A friend of mine has had trouble with them recently, too. A shame, they used to be great, but now they're down there with hmv.co.uk.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

ok let's sort out some confusion, play.com are usually ok with their deliveries, i find gameplay.com , very good.
All games i've pre-ordered from gameplay turn up a day before release, although i've noticed its more pc games rather than ps3, my last order skate did turn up a day before release (and it was the pal version and not us version), but i buy lots of vinyl and at the moment it's coming through dribs and drabs, so it's really down to royal mail sorting out all the backlog!!, i ordered my orange box from gameplay and it turned up a day before it's release, the only problem i have with this was when i got bioshock and you had to activate it online before you could play it and of course the servers for activating it was'nt up until the day of release. so i do thinkit's down to royal mail.

Still continue to get good service from Play.com

Delivery is usually about 4 - 5 days as expected.

Have found them to be the most consistent over the last few years.

Happy to wait 5 days for a good price.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

PLAY.COM are great with deliveries but wait until you have to return something, You cannot return anything without an authorisation e mail from them and I have been trying for over a week, their website says 24 hours -- utter tosh. They have started to send stuff outin plastic bags with no padding, the metal boxed set I ordered came crushed, hardly surprising. They dont want to know about retuning goods, I am now at the point of complaining to consumer protection as I believe they have no intention of replying to my e mails. Another point to notice, they have REMOVED the cancel order button so once ordered you cannot cancel.

    BE WARNED.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

They are a bit hit and miss for me. Sometimes stuff arrives next day, others can take up to a week. I don't bother with them if its something I am wanting fairly soon. Plenty other places have similar prices and quicker shipping.

Useful thread. I'm about to order 15 games for presents, so I might try "gameplay" instead of Play.com

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

I don't doubt they will be here for Christmas, all I'm saying is that they can be slow (a major issue for pre orders in my experience) and others have had issues with returns. For Christmas presents I don't see there being problems.

    Re: Play.com Game Deliveries

I need 'em early unfortunately cause they are going on holiday so I need to give them early. As long as they are no more than a week, it should be ok.

Hope they can clean all this up though, cause I like Play.com's prices, website and selection. If they can sort their deliveries out, I'll buy from them all the time.
