Test Drive Unlimited, but i dont play it anymore its so buggy and crashes all the time that i just cant be bortherd with it anymore, i had to reinstall it 4 times once almost every couple of days once to fix a freezing issue.

GTR Games, this is the best racing game ive ever played tbh.
Hell and Fire was spawned to be released.

This is, in my opinion (or perhaps, will be - when it's completed) - Live for Speed - Online racing simulator.

Its at v0.5a atm, and is being released in stages, S1 (v0.3), S2 (0.6) and S3 (1.0 I'd imagine), for being and alpha version of a 2/3rds complete product, it is very good indeed!

Wouldnt call tdu a simulation its more of an arcade style genre. The best simulation has to be live for speed.

    Re: THE driving simulation game.

I'd go with GTR 2 for track racing and Richard Burns Rally for... rallying...
rFactor is same engine as GTR so similar I guess.

I very briefly tried live for speed a looong time ago. Is it still only really any good if you go online with it? (seeing as its tagline is 'Online Racing Simulator', I guess so)

Also, Logitech G25 wheel to go with... mmmmm.

For simbin fans, don't forget Race07 - it's the sucessor to GTR.

Gran Turismo does it all for me

I bought the first one without knowing too much about it, was just looking for a driving game and it was new, got it home and was love it.

Forza 2 on the 360. For me personally, it just gets the balance right between realism and arcade style playability.

Although sometimes driving in the rush hour makes me want to simulate Burnout

    Re: THE driving simulation game.

Simulations. OP asked for THE hardcore driving simulation game. You can't seriously suggest Gran Turismo, Live for speed etc. are proper simulations? I've always hated them - it's like racing in immaculate dodgem cars.

The only game like that, that I've enjoyed, is Burnout Revenge but that's because of all the takedowns and stuff. And at least the cars look smashed up on Xbox360.

Simulations - I've always liked the ToCA series. Some people say they're too hard to play and I've even read people say "I play Gran Turismo all the time and I can't do a lap on ToCA without crashing, ToCA must be full of bugs". Er, no, that's not the reason. It's because it's bloody hard to drive.

Colin McRae DiRT is doing it for me right now.

    Re: THE driving simulation game.

Really? I always found Toca games quite arcady. Not to the extent of NFS of course, but they weren't a patch on GTR/Race07 for simulation.
