Don't bother. In my experience they're fragile, expensive poor general headphones. I wouldn't buy any again.

    Re: surround sound headphones

Lowe has always been a STEREO man. His Counterstrike history records that it must work ok!

I have used Medusa 5.1 headphones for over 2 years...same pair. Really nice, but lots of stuff, such as the amp and many cables, as the signal needs to hit the normal speakers afterwards.

I have, however, gone backwards to stereo headphones again. Positional audio in games is pretty good in stereo, if you have a good soundcard.

    oh..while I remember....

DONT get the Zalman ones...I used them earlier this year. They are bloody dire.

Speed Link Medusa are still my favourites.

    Re: surround sound headphones

I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD570s on Zak's recommendation, a good few years ago. My wife now uses those, while I've upgraded to the HD600s.

You honestly can't beat the investment of a good set of headphones. Apart from having to replace the cable, they've been the longest lasting, most comfortable, best sounding headphones that I've ever owned in my entire life. And for that, Zak will always be my number one Hexus Hero.

    Re: surround sound headphones

Actually Zak, I'm a 5.1 kind of guy - always have been but with speakers. Headphones in 5.1 just don't work, the physical limitations of the speaker placement don't give a proper illusion of surround.

    Re: surround sound headphones

I've used the Zalmans and Trust 751b. The sound on the Trust is top stuff for the money although the positioning is not perfect. As for the Zalman, they are okay but are 'dire' compared to the Trusts. They are more 5.0 as they lack a subwoofer channel.
Not sure about others but I've heard good things on the Medusas.

    Palit 8800gt ¦ X-fi Fatal1ty Gamer ¦ Coolermaster Cavalier 3 (Silver/Windowed) ¦

    Poseidon Magma: MSI P45 Zilent ¦ E6300@3.0ghz - Coolermaster Hyper 212 (MX-2) ¦ Corsair 2x2gb (880mhz @ 5-5-5-15) ¦ Corsair HX450w ¦

    Re: surround sound headphones

    I have Medusa 5.1's.
They are pretty good for the price, but they started to go a bit. There's some hiss and whine in it sometimes and the mic is totally bust. When i bought them i noticed that my counter-strike scores went up a helluva lot. You will know exactly where your enemy is.

    Re: surround sound headphones

I had some 5.1 headphones a while ago, not a great brand (can't remember what they were). They were decent headphones but I never did get the impression of surround sound with them. Simply not as good as a proper speaker setup!

On that note, make sure you've got a decent soundcard to compliment the headphones.
