Yeah there are still so many issues with this game, people are worried because it went gold so soon after the beta demo, that they cant possibly have fixed all of the problems.

Also a few people have tested the final version of the game, and have said that not very much has changed since this beta demo. So naturally people are concerned.

Most people are complaining about the menu in the pc version, looking totally like a console port, and totally dumbed down.. (are you sure? messages after almost every click etc..) The ut3 menu system now is horrible, not to mention the broken server browser that simply DOES NOT WORK properly at all.

In game, alot of things are missing like for example, you cannot even see the ping times of other players in the game, only your own ping (by using the console commands) You cant even see a list of players in the server before you join, or use spectate mode (though i dont know if thats in the final version or not)

There is a total lack of options, and most people have issues with this. The only way to change most stuff right now is to edit the .ini files.

Now if i were to post this in the offical UT3 forum it would be closed by the mod asap! They just totally ignore everyones concerns and try to cover up the fact that they are just rushing this game out in time for christmas to make as much $$ as they can.

I don't think I've seen a single game recently where some fanboy hasn't said exactly the same thing. It gets really dull to read game forums when they're all the same

i could understand p4ul's point of view if we were all on dial up and a 100mb patch would mean leaving the pc running for a week to download it.

i'd rather have a game thats good and maybe needs a patch or two than have stalker all over again were we wait 4 years for it


and i played the demo of ut3 and other than some slight firing lag i felt it was very good

This is the problem with pc games of today, they think they can release half finished stuff, and excpect people to pay for it. As for a patch, they could keep people waiting months, and there is no guarantee the issues your having will be fixed at all.

However, many of the issues with ut3 arent necessarily things that will be patched at all. They are more design flaws, and imo (and many others) just plain BAD design choices. The menu system, and total lack of options for example, will probably not be changed in a patch at all. Its usually just the bugs, and crashes that get patched, while thats a good thing of course, it doesnt change the fact that the game feels "dumbed down" and it will probably stay this way.

The server browser does not even include a favourite list! OR the ability to copy/paste an IP! (i REALLY hope this changes in the final version but i have my doubts...) So we have to choose to buy, not knowing if they will later add these features or not!

Im not a fan boy, but i am pissed how they are ruining one of my all time favourite games thats for sure!

Yes I know But I tend to lump them together because it's often the people who are most fervent about something who then rant about it (and of course, it's only ever a problem with just this one company )

Ok, I'll call your bluff. This is rubbish TBH. 'Games of today' are generally in a much better state than games used to be. Or have you never tried to play Daggerfall, Ultima 9, Baldurs Gate..and many, many more.

Because it's not how you would have done it? I'm sure there are reasons, and I'm quite happy to let someone who's actually had experience and skills in the field make the decisions rather than me

I agree, it's not nice to have a game that isn't 100% perfect, but I've never expected that from PC gaming, and I never will. If I have to have that I'll go to a console which has only a few hardware configurations to test.

Exactly how I felt when I saw the HD trailer for UT3 many months ago now... "FROM THE MAKERS OF GEARS OF WAR"...

Erm, whats wrong with using the rest of the UT series, that has been around almost ten years, as some marketing blurb to boost sales? I for one put Gears of War down less than 2hrs in... I can't stand shooters on consoles but I tend to give each one benefit of the doubt and I just get no where.

The console style gameplay has had an obvious effect to the game, and I am one unhappy bunny!

Well all the problems that i have with the game myself, are things that were always included in the UT series, but have been taken away in UT3. I see no reason why they needed to change what didnt need changing, as they havent made it any better, they have just taken away useful functionality, for the sake of dumbing it down for the consoles. (at least thats the only explination i can think of as to why they would do this)

The PC version should have been done separately and it clearly has not been. If you check the .ini files of the demo, they are full of xbox360 and PS3 stuff. There is no excuse for using a "console like" menu and options system in a PC game like UT3. Its no wonder people are complaining on the forums. But just wait until the game comes out and people find out things havent changed much since the demo! lol

Take something as simple as the server browser, its perfect in UT99, 2k3 and 2k4, but for the first time in the UT series we get this half finished "thing" that just doesnt contain ANY of the useful functionality found, even in the first UT game that was out 8 years ago. Whats more it doesnt even WORK!
