Angry EA Sims Division lost the plot?

First they release Bon Voyage EP with major bugs and an incompatibility with a large number of nVidia cards (including mine), and then they release Sim City Societies with a show stopper bug that crashes the game when your population hits the 10,000 mark (about half an hour into it). This one affects everyone who plays it.

Now to be fair the nVidia bug is is actually in the nVidia drivers, but they should have worked this out before releasing the game. This is the second time that they've hit problems with nVidia cards, the first time i got a better nVidia card, this time I'm going over to ATi.

To add insult to injury, they won't talk about these problems, and they don't say whether they will ever be patched!

Considering the Sims franchise has sold more games than anyother you'd think they'd care a bit more about it and their customers!

EA released a game full of bugs? Get away

Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean

Its much more likely that the issue is with bad EA coding and are leaving nVidia to clean up their mess.

Dont you think its weird that games like UT3 and Crysis (developed by crytek, only published by EA) can come out with almost no driver bugs, yet the simple Sims games (made by Maxis, part of EA) have had needed more driver updates than I can remember?

Re: EA Sims Division lost the plot?

Its because talented software developers avoid working for EA. Unlike companies like Valve, Crytek & Id Software who take great care of their developers resulting in better quality and better designed games. Where as EA dont give a damn about their developers, all they are interested in is making money, reaching deadlines (even if the game has still got bugs remaining) and getting the games as fast as possible on the shops shelves, with absolute zero regard for quality, once a game has been released the developers who worked on that game are already working on the next EA game or 10th sequel to that game, so if theres any bugs on that game they dont put developers back on it to fix them.
Hell and Fire was spawned to be released.

Crysis was only published by EA, not developed by them (it was developed by Crytek)
C&C3 was developed by EA Los Angeles, which was DreamWorks Interactive before it was brought out by EA (In your typical EA buys everything style)

In all honesty, EA is mainly a front facing brand name. They have just brought loads of development houses, the quality differs hugely based on which house it was developed in.
