I was told (though I'm maybe wrong) that if you own the original then you have a 'licence' to play the game and so it's not illegal. But I'm vary wary about it. It's in a legal grey area like abandonware I think. In the meantime, pro evolution sounds good fun.

Where does the idea that if you own a copy of something on one media you're allowed to download it for another come from though? That doesn't sound like normal copyright law.

I don't know, it's just one of those ideas I got and other people have. A collective idea kind of. Not sure if it's right or not...? Anyway, this thread is just going to be locked if we talk about ROMs and stuff, so lets stick to PC games.

You know what would be really awesome as split screen? Destruction derby .

    edit: some clarification:

Eh? There's no clarification there! I can't see anything about UK law, and I wouldn't be surprised if a site supplying ROMS would only find things in their favour even if they did

If it's wrong to talk about ROMS, then emulators that play them shouldn't be mentioned either I'd guess.

A couple of others: Toca 2, Micro Machines, V-rally 2

Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC

It depends what is being emulated I think. But most stuff is probably illegal, even if you own the original.
