Where does the idea that if you own a copy of something on one media you're allowed to download it for another come from though? That doesn't sound like normal copyright law.
You could well be right. That didn't occur to me. (I do own an N64 and a copy of MK)

I don't know, it's just one of those ideas I got and other people have. A collective idea kind of. Not sure if it's right or not...? Anyway, this thread is just going to be locked if we talk about ROMs and stuff, so lets stick to PC games.

Eh? There's no clarification there! I can't see anything about UK law, and I wouldn't be surprised if a site supplying ROMS would only find things in their favour even if they did
If it's wrong to talk about ROMS, then emulators that play them shouldn't be mentioned either I'd guess.

It depends what is being emulated I think. But most stuff is probably illegal, even if you own the original.
