Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Well, call me a bit sad but it's a bit of a test thing I'm doing atm. Just bought two USB controllers (similar to the playstation analogue ones - Saitek P380) and gonna have a go seeing if I can get any games going 2 player with them. I imagine some football games would work, and racing games, or at least they *could*, but I don't know of any that do.
So are there any games out there that do properly work with split screen or shared screen and two controllers? I.e. input on one PC. What's the viability using an emulator to play virtual roms (that I own an original copy of)?
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Emulator wise, pretty much all of them support configuration of joypads. I used to use an actual PS2 pad with an adaptor and that was fine with SNES emulators, and now I use 360 Wireless ones and its still fine.
I dont really think that therer is much scope for the 2 player split screen gaming on PC - its all LAN or online - which is a shame - as i am a child of the 16-bit console era and they were all over the place...
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
definately sure you can't play 2 player on pro evo on the pc
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Atomic Bomberman is great fun... really old but works on Vista amazingly! You can get it cheap on Sold Out label IIRC.
Worms is great fun too, dont know if its joypad enabled though.
( Sorry if above suggestions are too old! )
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
I remember playing Fifa 97 as 2 players on the same PC, but nothing since then that I can remember :p
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Yeah I've played some games on one PC. Fighting games, footie games, and even a couple of racing games. One of the racing games did proper split screen.
We both played on the same keyboard, or one on keyboard and one on joypad. You couldn't use 2 joypads back then, but I bet you can now. I dont know if many games are set up to do that though nowdays. I think they just expect that everyone prefers to do it over a lan or the net.
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
I've got a game back home, world cup 2002 or something :s I'm pretty sure that works with 2 players cos i remember playing it (and pwning, even thou i dont follow football :D)
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Well if Fifa 97 does, I would be surprised if the modern footie games dont. Pro evo might be an exception though.
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
The latest Pro Evo works fine with two controllers on one PC, play it with my mates all the time!
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Lord of the Rings games are a great blast.
Though Lego Star Wars 1&2 are perhaps the ultimate co-op games ;)
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Cant believe that I forgot about Lego Star Wars - fantastic fun - and yes it works with 2 pads. And its AWESOME! :) And Not sure if the quote about pro-evo and 2 player was a question or a statement, but you CAN use 2 joypads. The PS" adaptor I spoke about that I used was mainly for that. My mate and I have been playing against each other on PC on pro-evo 3, 4, 5, 6 and now the latest 2008 version.
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Ditto - Pro Evo 4,5,6 - no problems with a PS2-USB adaptor and 2 wireless PS2 pads.
I think State of Emergency did too?
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
N64 emulator works well.
Super Mario Karts FTW
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Super Mario Kart was amazing. I've spent about a million more hours in that, than in Crysis or any other modern game for that matter.
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
Are emulators legal nowadays then? I'd have thought because you can still buy the game over the Wii classic channel (or whatever it's called) it's akin to piracy.
Re: Multiplayer gaming on one PC
I'd imagine they are legal if you own the original systems and games and they still work otherwise you're breaking the law and the cops will be knocking at your door soon :D
