    New TFT Q

    Looking at getting abigger monitor for the PC, was thinking widescreen with HDMI in if possible as it'll also be used for the XBox...

    Around the 22" area I was thinking, what do u guys have/use, is widescreen a good idea, I play BF2/2142 etc so will widescreen balls stuff up, will the xbox complain?

    Re: New TFT Q

    Take a look at this site, Main Page - WSGFWiki ,it will be able to tell you if the games you play will have any probs with WS, and also tell you if there are any workarounds.

    I use a dell 24" WS tft for all my computer and game related fun, so far I haven't had any trouble (almost all games are now WS compatable). I Have heard that it can be conntected to an xbox, but as I don't have one, someone else would be better able to answer this.

    When I visit people to sort out (or try to) their computer woes, I hate using any screen less than a 22", it just doesn't feel right (and I'm sure that you will feel the same, and wonder why you left it so long to change).

    Ahh sweet link ta..

    Been on a WS on my Dell at work for a while and like u say, makes you wonder how you did without, under Vista for example it needs to be WS so that you get the side of your screen back from using the sidebar...

    I have one of the Dell 2407s non HC and its runs all the games i've played perfectly. Plus the 2407 supports 1080p over DVI so the xbox will look pretty sweet

    Re: New TFT Q

    The 2407 also supports 1080p over VGA and will even 1:1 pixel map on the A04 revision, you can also get cheaper alternates to the 2407 with the dell e248;

    Dell 24" Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

    or the samsung which is the same price bracket as the e248;

    Samsung SyncMaster 245B 24in Monitor - TrustedReviews

    or there is a OcUK value that is the same price bracket maybe cheaper I think it was about £250 last time I checked but it also uses the more expensive and richer colour reproduction PVA panel.

    Personally, I picked up the dell 2407fpw non-HC about 4 months ago now and I think it's fantastic. I use it for the PC over DVI, the 360 over VGA and the wii over the composite connection. I have it on my desk so I don't sit that far away so I can still appreciate the games that are in 1080p which look superb, such as mass effect and halo 3. One of the downsides is that you might start getting the urge to acquire 1080p movies which are 10Gb a pop!

    Re: New TFT Q

    Widescreen is definitely the best choice for a gamer. Also, I've played all the battlefield games on a widescreen monitor by the way. They had no problems.

    I don't suggest getting a 22" monitor by the way though, because all 22" seem to use cheaper TN panels which are 6bit. So produce less colours than a good 8 bit panel. You could go up to 24", but that puts a bigger strain on your PC. Or you could go down to a 20" which is about perfect for most people. Thats what I went with, and I'm really happy with it.

    Looks like the E248WFP is winning so far
