If you're on the lookout for a decent racing sim you might want to check out a thread on this forum.

Tried rFactor, seemed decent, but I stuck with GTR2 since I didn't especially want to pay for another similar game.

    Re: Rfactor

In my opinion rFactor is a fantastic game although I agree with NinjaChimp that GTR 2 is a great game.

My reasons for saying that rFactor is better in some regards is because of rFactors modding scene. There is a vast array of free, downloadable mods ranging from F1 to lawnmower racing and there are some quality mods that make the game standout above the rest.

Take a look at these mods

    Megane Trophy
    V8 Supercars
    FS One

These are but a few examples of the quality work the modding community have produced with many more available. If you want to race a certain formula then its there, tracks? theres an abundance of worldwide tracks too.

If you fancy a race some time or need some help and advice then pop over to my site (See my sig) and drop me a line sometime.
    Cheers

    Re: Rfactor

There are loads of servers and if you join an empty one you can be 90% sure that you will end up with a pretty well populated server within 20 minutes.

Obviously the core cars etc are not played a lot but the amount of mod servers running is stunning.

Heres my personal opinion on the game as a whole.

You picked an awesome wheel for a first! Should last for a loooong time.
Had mine since release, played a lot of GTR2 with it and it's fantastic. Wish my real car had it tbh.

    Re: Rfactor

rFactor doesn't come with rain or snow as standard but there is a mod team working on weather effects for the F1 mod. You can select the time of day to race and it can go dark throughout your racing day which can be brilliant when racing GT's at Le Mans.

    Check these out fella

    Rain
    More rain

    hope this helps

    Re: Rfactor

Thanks the rain effects look amazing. are there alot of servers that do just straight racing instead of doing warm up, quali before a race?

    Re: Rfactor

The majority of servers run a voting system which allow the players to bypass quali and practise. More often than not you can initiate a vote and it will go through no probelm.
