    Nintendo's new product...

The Nintendo D.S, or Nintendo 'double screen' is the mystery machine that Nintendo has been working on... i havent much news but the machine will support 2 screens (3 inch tft lcd) and two seperate processors (Arm9 main processor and an Arm7 sub processor) Nintendo said the following about D.S

"Players can look forward to being able to manage their game progress from two different perspectives, enhancing both the speed and strategy of the challenge. For example in a soccer game, users can view the whole game on one screen while simultaneously focusing on an individual soccer player's tackle or goal on the other screen.

sooooo what do people think?? good, bad... indifferent???

Bit of a shock really. Its completly seperate from the GameCube and GameBoy Advance, and seems to fall somewhere inbetween. Perhaps a responce to the PSP, which also falls somewhere inbetween, being the size of a hand-held, but as powerful as a modern console? (Sort of)

Looks like Nintendo is trying to nick the middle-ground.

Apart from that, we'll have to wait and see... if the games on it are anything like the gems the GBA has been churning out, it can onl be a good thing.

Advance Wars style gameplay, 2 player, at the same time, with a screen each, anybody?

Sounds like those old LCD games Nintendo used to make.

Maybe we'll see donkey kong on it.

That would be good if I could look in two directions at once, which I can't. I never liked the old double screen Game and Watches much either. I wish they'd spend the money on a better processor and more RAM.

arm9 smells of actual worry over the gp32

    arm7 smells of gba compatability

2 screens smells of virtual-boy insanity

    Talking

Personally, i love the idea of 2 screens. IT would benefit every game out there... i mean c'mon how cool might this whole concept be....?

RTS - army on one screen , radar on the other
RPG - action on one screen, inventory / skills on the other
fps - bangbang on one screen, objectives/map on the other
rts - map on one screen, production queues on the other

    X2 - real-time on one screen / stocks/ news on the other?

come on people dual screen gaming is the bollocks! nevermind tri-screen fps this is the stuff that takes games into the next dimension! (do i get my cheese oscar now?)

ok this might be about low power portable gaming now ....but eckhart.......................think about the future....................

dual independant displays make life worth living. tm.

i can see its benefits. but remember there is always downsides. i think size/weight will be something that will have to be looked at as well as price. i would say battery consumption but im sure there is no way they wont provide a rechargeable one with this.

Nintendo have already secured Namco and Capcom for games for the unit and EA are looking over the idea so far. No other companies have been named yet to support the new DS

you dont know if it will be a flop. Look at the playstation 1, everyone laughed saying sony didnt have a clue about the games market and then went on to break all records for consoles time will tell I guess

    Erm... Ok then.

Of course the Saturn didn't 'suck' in terms of quality games, it just didn't shift as many units as it could have done, and was up against the Playstation, which was a massive seller.

As for the Nintendo DS... far too early for anyone to know if its going to flop, or be a winner, just yet.

saturn was rubbish, controller was cack, and most of the games sucked, mode 7 on the snes was a better attempt at 3d than the rubbish hardware that sega picked.

Clockwork Knights, you mean? Or Nights?

Nights was tops, Clockwork Knights less so.

dunno about nights or knights, heard the names but never played.

panzer was packed with too much fmv and i ain't a fan of rpg type games. just my opinion though.
