Why Did I Buy Mass Effect?

I can't be arsed with it, and I've just seen Eternal Sonata, another 360 RPG, and its more my sort of game. Japanese weird stuff with dragons and ice spells.

Anyone played it? IGN and Gamespot seemed to like it and it looks beautiful.

I've seen ES being played.. but no-one knows about it and the packaging blurb tends to put people off from the great game underneath

Re: Why Did I Buy Mass Effect?

    i'm considering it

and blue dragon is *reasonable* if you want a jrpg

also, you bought mass effect because it "allows its players - universally male no doubt - to engage in the most realistic sex acts ever conceived. One can custom design the shape, form, bodies, race, hair style, breast size of the images they wish to "engage" and then watch in crystal clear, LCD, 54 inch screen, HD clarity as the video game "persons" hump in every form, format, multiple, gender-oriented possibility they can think of."

Re: Why Did I Buy Mass Effect?

I liked Mass Effect - kept me going when the missus was away for a weekend, though I didn't tell her of the 'hump(ing) in every form, format, multiple, gender-oriented possibility they (I) can think of'!

Eternal Sonata also catches my attention but I don't spend much time on the 360 anymore. I'll be looking for a discount copy once I finish going through STALKER (again).

Re: Why Did I Buy Mass Effect?

There's a demo on Live of both Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon. and I'll probably pick both up at some point as they're my type of game.

I'm sort of playing through Enchanted Arms now (as in I started but got side tracked by other games and the 360 dying), it's a reasonable JRPG, although the one character is extreeeeeeeeeemly annoying in the beginning and the random encounters can drive you nuts (If your used to your FF, you'll know what to expect).

Achievements are all obtained by beating bosses as you go through the game (I'm about half-way through with 500 pts to go). You build up a huge party pool with all the gollem cores you collect through the game (although your only able to take around 8 characters at a time which you can swap out for your 3 of your 4 on screen combatants), but I find you stick to the main characters and one or two of the more powerful gollems you get near the beginning and build their levels up.

There's a casino sub game once you get to London in which, if your carefull, you can build an obscene amount of (gambling) credit with which you can then swap out for prizes some of which you can then sell to the shop in order to get proper cash to buy other items (such as EXP chips which you can use to boost your stats and obtain new abilities, but can take forever running back and fore between casino and shop).

If you can get it cheap enough or are able to rent it, it's worth a look.

Re: Why Did I Buy Mass Effect?

I really like Mass Effect, character interaction is superb as are the visuals. Most realistic I have ever seen in a game. Similar type of story that you get on Sci Fi games but whos complaining!

I agree. It was like a pitiful Tomb raider rip off. I completed the game though and only got off with Ashley. And I think that was by accident! Gamewise I was disappointed and expected more from the makers of Knights of the Old Republic. It was rather dull and I completed the last two main sections in only a few hours. And another thing - why does everyone involved in the side plots live in identical bases/ spaceships? That was really poor!

are you doing the side quests such as the four shrines (fire water etc)

am a little further than you but am at a point were i need to do a little levelling up and am bored running back and forth by the casino

    Makato, definitly annoying.
I haven't leveled up enough to do the side quests yet (not sure if I've got far enough in the game to start them either).
I've reached the small village where Rigar's fiancee lives.

you would have passed by the fire shrine and wind ones and there is one south of sayakas village

you need about 1000 hp on each character to do them comfortably

the next boss for you will be fun earth god only has bout 1100hp but your attacks will do about 15 damage

also after the earth god if you go back to london and use the casino to get money, in the shop you can buy a mega skill gem for about 4000tb which gives you 8000 skill points for levelling up makes it much easier and less long winded

It's such a shame that Mass Effect was so bland when KOTOR 2 was so much fun (except the weird ending). I'm still tempted by Jade Empire off Steam though...
