    Savage 2

    Its out.

5hrs free play, followed by a $29.99 fee after that.

Anyone play the first? I loved it. Might have to get this.

    Re: Savage 2

So I can't buy it from the shops? It's a shame because I like having something tangible.

I liked the first but it looks like the gameplay has changed. From the screenshots it looks like it has gone more towards an MMO/RPG style. I hope it doesn't mean more time played = better character and persistent items/xp/levels.

    Re: Savage 2

I've played the 5hr demo for a bit and don't really like it. Some things make it feel like a beta, such as the lack of gun switch animations and the ram moving up hill looks wrong. I still don't understand what most of the upgrades do, but some of the old ones are still there such as carnivorous, storm shield and entangle.

The three-way rock/paper/scissors (attack/block/interrupt) combat game seems more luck than anything. You swipe too fast to react to your opponent in time. Anything more than jousting each other 1v1 means you may as well just spam attack and hope for the best.

Performance is ok, but is very poor if you put all sliders to max. I think there is too much range on 'draw distance'. It has also crashed a few times when I go into practice mode.

It appears we are 2-4 weeks away from having a Linux beta client. We are busy writing all the OGL shaders which is very time consuming but we're working hard on it.
