Re: Elder Scrolls IV & V

They are currently working on Fallout 3, there have been rumours flitting about for a while now about Elder Scrolls V but that is literally it, rumours! Also rumoured that the next installment will be some sort of MMOG.

Have to wait and see though with Fallout 3 being their main project at the minute. Elder Scrolls IV is Oblivion and its superb surreal expansion Shivering Isles.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV & V

Next installment of Elderscrolls will not be a MMORPG. Whether they do an MMORPG set in the same world or not I don't know, but they said the core The Elder Scrolls games will be single player.

Typically they do several years of background work before they announce anything, and they're now big enough to run Fallout 3 in parrallel with the pre-production and even some production work on ESV. At a guess I would say ESV is likely to arrive in 2009/2010.

i could never shake the idea that i really preferred the darker and grittier environment of Morrowind over the pastel prettiness of Oblivion.

I hated Morrowind's environment Oblivion is much more like the rest of the Elder Scrolls games

But did you try Shivering Isles? That had a much more Morrowind feel to it.

I'd have to agree with you on that one. The land managed to be wonderfully diverse, from the cantons of Vivec to the ashland dust camps, the mage towers and the dwemner ruins, and it still retained a unique look compared to other fantasy settings.

For me, while Oblivion was beautiful, it didn't show much imagination in its designs.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV & V

To be honest, they'd be crazy not to cash in on another TES game. I just hope (but it won't happen) that the next game won't be so dumbed (as in stupidified) down as Oblivion was.

I'd love to see more from them and no doubt we will. I've thought before I would love oblivion as an MMO.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV & V

I can't wait for ES:V, and I'm not even that far into Oblivion yet. (Just got a rig i nthe last month that can run it...and anything elsem ade in the last 5 years, so I have a lot of catching up to do). A guess at a 2010 release wouldn't be out of line; look at the gap between Morrowind and Oblivion; the next gap will likely be longer.
