It's been circulating for the past year and a bit - if you didn't follow pro-gaming that'd be why you didn't see it

From what I've briefly read in the past, it was a whole host of things - 2 main killers of CPL being funding due to competition and lack of interest for it once they removed cs 1.6 from the game list and replaced it with source, there was an uproar.

The CGS is a reason for the whole game section debate. Now that people want to see source, yes that's right, see it, there's been a huge surge of funding going into CS: S - its where the competition money is now, and that means that 1.6 has been dropped from a lot of LAN competitions which means loads of teams either don't compete anymore, or have moved to source.

Does this affect CAL in any other way than no new CPL maps or updates?

Presumably because they did their sums wrong and realised that in fact money couldn't be made from their business model.

I know a lot of people who hate source and reckon 1.6 is the only true CS experience. NEver really understood the difference as I die just as easily in both only in source its a bit better looking.

Apparantly Valve are considering CS:S 2 or something along those lines withing 2/3 years.

    Re: CPL shutting down!

Source has a really major bug with the netcode that Valve keep under their hats, its too big to fix so they just try and hide it.

Aside from the fact the hitboxes are completely out of sync with the visible model, what else is there?
(i.e. You have to lead when shooting, rather than aiming at people most of the time, depends on peoples settings too (afaik), which is why public is a big waste of time)

    Could you share ?

    Re: CPL shutting down!

The hit boxes on BF2 are also all over the place, Ive seen videos of people testing it scoring hits in the empty space behind a model where as hits straight to the bady are completly missed!

its to do with how the interp works, a player who runs out from cover spot will be able to see the a stationary person before the stationary person see the running player.
