    Question Back to gaming

After having been a Mac user for a long while I'm coming back to the land of Windows. Might as well get my gaming mits back on! Sorry if this is a bit of a rambling post but really have lost touch with the gaming scene... Last time I was into my Windows games Half Life 2 had only been out a few months.

Vista... First of all, is Vista still a no-go for games? I know it was bad last year but thought things might have been ironed out by now?

Games... Are there any decent RTS's out there at the moment? Looks like Warhammer is the current choice but Starcraft II looks like it's not far around the corner? What's the current crop of decent games - I was thinking Bioshock, CoD4, Civ4, Flight Sim X, WoW... Was looking at Crisis but it's probably going to crawl on this laptop, especially when hooked up to the 24" monitor.

Thanks for any info or advice

    Re: Back to gaming

    rts wise

    company of heroes
    world in confilct
    dawn of war
    supreme commander

expansions are available for most of these.

    fps wise

    orange box (tf2, hl2+expansions, portal)
cod4 (best fps at the mo)
crysis (mostly decent sp till near the end needs pretty high specs tho)

ut3 aint 2 hot and quake wars is terrible.

some people like the frontlines game not a fan myself.

    Re: Back to gaming

Vista IMO is still so slow unless you have a monster of a machine, by that I mean a quad core cpu and 4GB RAM. Welcome back to the light side though.

Get The Orange Box, has all the HL games in it for your pleasure.

    Re: Back to gaming

Think I still have my old Steam acount details somewhere so I should be able to download those again - sure I had CS:S on there. Can't wait to see DE Dust again! Did they ever bring back that oilrig map from the original CS??
