PC Gamer June '08 Issue

Just got this from my subscription, reviews are <load of crap games>. However what caught my attention was...

Previews on:
- Empire Total War (longest, about 5sides long)
- Fallout 3
- Warhammer Online

and my favourite:

- Mafia 2!!

I absolutely loved the first game, so this got me quite excited!
And the other previews are some games i'm really anticipating, bar Warhammer Online - but I know it has a large following so listed it for those that care.
If anyone wants some excerpts give a shout , not sure how interested you guys will be.

Also, it's ages since i posted on these forums, so please yell (opposed to banning me!) at me if i'm not allowed to post offering magazine excerpts.

2. Received thanks from:

Interested to hear more on Fallout 3 and certainly Mafia 2!

So what was the overall impression of the games?

Any quotes?

PCzone had something on Mafia 2.. went on and on about how they are creating a "living" city.... pretty much like GTA4 then.

I really really enjoyed the Original Mafia.. such an under-rated game!

A couple ;D.

Fallout 3 - "Walkies!"

"Dogmeat is back! Half of you will be experiencing a warm feeling in your nostalgia glands at that news, while the other half will be considering turning the page already. Don't! Because Dogmeat, among other more humanoid elements, is a major reason why Fallout 3 is destined to be even better than Oblivion."

...

"Depending on your actions -- if you're an evil murderer or a kind, helpful sort -- various folk will suggest that they join up with you. Behave in certain ways and they might get grumpy and leave. Good old Dogmeat won't care what you do, though -- he's just happy to bite anything that attacks his master."

...

"Kill someone you don't need to, and people will know, and judge you accordingly. Not always negatively, though"

...

"1. Fallout Boy
Vault 101, two centuries after nuclear war scoured the Earth. Your father is a doctor and you first see him as he literally delivers you into the world. Before he removes his mask you choose your own physical appearance -- your choices affect how he looks too. Next, your third birthday, where via a cute kids' book you select your stats."

"2. Grow up fast
Now it's your tenth birthday. You're given a wrist-mounted Pip-Boy computer that holds vital information about you and your world -- it's a smoothly integrated menu and stat system. Next: your 16th birthday and it's time to take your GOAT (Generalised Occupational Aptitude Test) to find out what approach you'll take to life."

There is 5 more points consisting of mutants and finally that kick-ass suit you see in the trailer:

"7. Can't touch this
Every wanderer in the wastes wants to get his hands on a suit of powered armour. It'll be late in the game before this level of tech becomes available, mind."

"With less than six months to go, you can expect to hear a lot more this summer from a serious contender for game of the year."

Wow! Typed loads already. Something to whet your appetites .

Mafia II - "Taking another whack at it"

""Just as Mafia explored the themes of honour, family and betrayal, Mafia II will explore similar themes, but through a new viewpoint -- the eyes of Vito Scaletta," Vávra tells us. These themes see the young Vito transform from soldier on leave to a high-ranking member of a local Mafia family, via a mix of massacring for the Mob and the unlicensed use of other people's cars."

...

"But this time these are cars of the '40s, a decade later and a decade more sophisticated than Mafia's old bangers. To celebrate this, the cops are more lenient about speed restrictions, perhaps not chasing you for going 5mph over the limit." <- yay

...

"Twice as big as Mafia, bubbling with activity, and all about tearing around town on your way to mow down a room of rival mobsters with a Tommy gun: this is the game we've been waiting seven years for."

There's a picture of two cars scraping together with the humourous caption "Let's hope these cars aren't racing. No car races, please" ^^.

"Trains wobble realistically as they trundle around."

Looking forward to these two games impatiently ! .

edit: Added and bolded final paragraph of each.

All quotes (C) PCG UK etc etc!
