    Lost Planet

To my surprise, I got this game free with my new XFX 8800GTS (alpha dog edition... it looks amazing tbh, proud to have that in my pc ).

Lost Planet... is it any good on the pc? Do people still play it online?

I played the demo on the 360, and quite liked it but there was hardly anyone online.

    People still play it?

    Re: Lost Planet

I bought Lost Planet for the 360... never played it, it's a horrible, horrible game IMO. I wouldn't recomend it to anyone, badly designed levels, aweful check points, pretty steep difficultly curve too.

All that and I only got 1/2 way through the second level!

I couldn't even complete the single player demo

    Ah well, it's a free game, I can't complain.

Better if it was the Colonies edition though

Quite enjoyed the game on the 360, multi-player was terrible though.

I've only played the PC demo. I found it was a great game for short bursts of action/mayhem.

The levels are quite a challenge but completed them. Good solid blaster I think only let down but the annoying console button info onscreen (lazy programmers )

    Re: Lost Planet

I tired to play the game (360 version), I really did, but found that if you die during a mission and you've used up the amunition, you respawn with sod all chance of getting any further because you've nothing to shoot with - forces you to a restart. Just found it far too frustrating. Maybe I ought to give it another try but to be honest I've got better things to do now.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

    Re: Lost Planet

    Completed it on hardest.

Me and some friends got bored one day and decided to complete it. Took us about 8 hours (from start) to reach the end.

We died once, but never did we run out of ammunition (we're fairly good shots.. we practise on Halo 3 1v1v1v1 or 2v2 fairly often, and have all completed Gears of War, COD 4 and COD 3.)

It was on a 360 though, so PC version might be slightly different.

    Re: Lost Planet

Don't all console games have the difficulty turned down to what, on a PC, would be "uber-wuss"? Like, one pistol shot in Doom 3 on an Xbox would kill a cyberdemon? And you don't need to aim the portals in Portal, just press the fire buttons and they're automatically placed for you?

C&C3 would, clearly, just be a movie that you sit there and watch on a console.

    Ooh, feeling feisty today?

I can't really comment on how a console game compares directly with its PC variant, I buy one version not both. I'm slowly coming around to the idea of FPS on a console (despite the acuracy and dumbing down issues) but RTS for me is strictly a PC affair - a mouse and keyboard for micro management rules.

    Re: Lost Planet

not a thumb user, i have a pc a wii and a 360. I just prefer to play most of my games on my 360 at the moment, mostly due to being able to lie back on my sofa and chill out as opposed to being sat in a computer chair, which i do all day at work practically already. I also dont liek cheats in online games and i find it hard to trust a lot of fps games on the pc as you never truly know if you are on a level playing field.

    Heh. fair enough.

Tom, I have actually tried Portal on the PS3.
    And liked it.

But I'm rather attached to (and biased towards) my PC.
