In an effort to avoid GTAIV threads infesting the gaming forums come launch day, and in the weeks after, this thread will serve all your car jacking, machine gun firing, game play discussing, achievement hunting, and general GTA lovin needs.

To Do Before Release: The RockStar Games Social Club, which will act much like the Bungie.net site does for Halo3, will track your in-game stats, show your place on the leaderboards, and act as an online hub for GTA players. Registration is now open, allowing you to set up an account, chose an avatar, and (if done before launch day) enter a competition to have a custom portait of your ugly mug drawn by a RockStar games artist.

Achievements: Only on the 360 version of course. There are 50 achievements, for a total of 1000 gamerscore points.

loving it so far, the city has an amazing sense of being alive. The car handling is better than in any of the others by a mile. The story is well fleshed out and has stopped me going on rampages so far just to see how it progresses.

I really like the judgements you have to make on people living or dying as well, normally i just kill them but in this i have found myself pondering the right decision.

However auto aim needs to be set off in multiplayer as it kind of ruins it having tracking of your targets, although it is an option its just people need to use it more. Also one of my mates could join every party i set up and even a game i hosted. But in party mode he didnt get into a single game.

But with the auto aim off it has some real potential, have been some hilarious moments already!

me too im at work till 5:30 but i have had this game since sat so no biggie. i like the lighting effects. they are soo amazing. the fog looks brillient, the rain is even better and teh sunrise and sunset is truely breathtaking.

the handling of teh cars is nearly on par with racing sims like forza and gt prologe has its lesss arcady and you realy need to break properly hear in this game.

Don't all laugh and point at poor non-console-owning me (an original Xbox doesn't really count) but anyone got any estimates if/when this will hit the PC? Loved Vice City, couldn't get into San Andreas but will pick this up when it comes out.

nothing funny at all. if this was released on the pc and 360 i would get ti on pc simply for the fact that it can be modded with ease to have proper cars like porche and bmw's plus i bet it will take up to 32 players online due to MP being played on mostly dedicated servers on pc games.

GTA Games tend to look alot better on the pc as well too.

Also if you havent heard this San Andreas Multiplayer :: Multiplayer modification for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas they made a MP mod for the old games that allows you to play up to 200 players in one server and no there is no lag at all has i have tried and tested this wonderful mod and if gta4 was to come out on the pc these guys will make a similar for this one.

There is no confirmation on a PC release as yet. Going from previous timeframes its anywhere from 1-2 years from now though.

I'm still getting used to the control system.

Whether its just me, but the cars seem to handle like crap, all over the place, and I keep (for some unknown reason) pressing 'Y' to handbrake.... High-speed out-of-the-car jump, usually into oncoming traffic, or some hard, inanimate object. Ouch, it really does look painful for poor Nico
