Hello people

Sorry but I have the the funny feeling that I have been screwed ... again.

Have bought the game QUAKE WARS - ENEMY TERRITORY second hand from eBay ... it arrived on Tuesday morning (22nd April).
When I try to create a new online account I get the message UNKNOWN ERROR.

Would you know if it is because it had been registered by the original owner already with the very serial key ?


I have asked the seller before I purchased the game if it had been registered already and here is what he replied:

Hi! Yes I have played online, but you can create a new account with the cd key no problem.

and later, after I won it ...

Hi, I already posted your item. I've tested creating a new online account and it works, so you will be fine.

The campaign part seems to work fine without that a serial is neccessary.

For those who have the game, could you please let me know what you think ?

Well, you need to stop buying from ebay... ask for a refund mate...

I would have thought that if it was an issue with the reg code, it would have said that, rather than "unknown error".

Try manually downloading and installing any patches there are for it and try again. If that doesn't work demand a refund from the eBay seller and send the goods back.

Definately stop buying games from eBay also, seems you are being stung left right and center.

the replies were that I have to update to version 1.4 in order to be able to register for online gaming.

Will do when i come home from work (Wed 23/4) and let you know the outcome.

Oh man people ... have just downloaded the patch (that was a 90 minutes download), and what can I say ? ... (blushing a little) ... online play does work just fine now - without any error message ...

Glad u got it sorted out Glad u like ETQW I really liked it, but after a couple of weeks I just stopped wanting to play it. Blame that on other great games like TF2. Yes u got a real bargain for £2 odd lol I was hoping for at least a fiver lol.

For THAT price I would just go for it ... and considering the reputation ... 1777 transactions and 99.7% positives

If I din't have this game already, I would get it for sure.
How come such an awesome game is being given away for peanuts ?

Paid for CoD4 £23.- incl del recently ... and for Crysis £18.- incl del

But I was really disappointed about Battlefield 2142 ... was after this one for a long time but having tried it now, I don't like it tbh.

I am after Halo 2 now ... it's still around £ 20.- ... do you think that will come down still ?

Noticed that the Flightsimulator X Deluxe Edition is still as expensive as it was 1 year ago. Some games just don't seem to come down in price.

I'm really sorry to have thrown up a suspicion because of this, cause after the update was done, the registration was smooth as a baby bottom.
