    ps3 questions

Hi i have various questions on a ps3 has i might be getting one because my 360 messed up for the 5th time and i have had enought of it. here it goes:

Seeing has there is alot of different versions of the ps3 what does the 40gb version offer? does it have wifi? bluetooth? built in memory card reader?

How reliable is this thing? any issues with overheating and freezing?

can i stream movies, music and pics from a xp or vista machine?

    how loud is it?

Can i hook up any usb mouse and keyboard to it?

can i use a usb hub to connect more usb devices to it?

can the 40gb version play ps2 games?

cheers for the advice guys and its a shame the 360 failed me big time

How reliable is this thing? any issues with overheating and freezing? Very in my experience and reading around. Mine is super silent, cant even tell its on.

can i stream movies, music and pics from a xp or vista machine? Yes, just set up Media Player to share over the network or use TVersity - very easy to do. Supports DivX too

how loud is it? Completely silent for me, although if you keep it in a tight space the fan may spin up when playing a game (still much quieter than a 360.

Can i hook up any usb mouse and keyboard to it? Yes, can also use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse

can i use a usb hub to connect more usb devices to it? Yes

can the 40gb version play ps2 games? Nope, only PS1. The 60Gb can play PS2 games

cheers for the advice guys and its a shame the 360 failed me big time
    As above...

The 40gb loses 2 usb ports, the card reader and backwards compatability over the 60gb.

How reliable is this thing? any issues with overheating and freezing?

More than the 360. There have been some problems with the lasers in the 40gb though, but not to the extent of RROD.

can i stream movies, music and pics from a xp or vista machine?

Yes. However watch out with music as in certain lists it puts songs into alphabetical order. How dumb!

    how loud is it?

I have not heard it yet!

Can i hook up any usb mouse and keyboard to it?

Yes. You can even connect certain bluetooth ones.

can i use a usb hub to connect more usb devices to it?

    Not sure, haven't tried.

can the 40gb version play ps2 games?

    Nope.

Lets just hope they bring out a more relaible and quieter one. I will upgrade my launch premium then!

Can i hook up any usb mouse and keyboard to it?
    yes

can i use a usb hub to connect more usb devices to it?

    Re: ps3 questions

And as far as HDMI cables go, a cheap £8 one of ebay is good enough. Dont be fooled by these expensive cables.

    Re: ps3 questions

ALL models of ps3 come only with a grotty composite video cable (i.e. no HD without extra purchases)
