    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

I've used my 360 constantly (It's usually on from 6pm - 12am most nights) since I bought it in the January after release. It died on me just before Christmas and I had it back within 2 weeks of sending it off for repair.

Conversly, my cousin bought a new one before christmas, it died a few months back and it came back from repair and it started scratching discs (he's lost his COD4 game because of this).

He sent it straight back for repair again and when he got it back it gave a RRoD error as soon as he powered it up. He sent it off again and it came back on Tuesday but again as soon as he powered it up yet another RRoD.

MS have offered to replace instead of repair it this time and offered a charge cable by way of appology but I think my cousin is fed up.

    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

The journey to becoming a ps3 fan

Hi, I will put my thoughts in this wonderful thread. On May 06 I bought an Xbox 360 with ghost recon 1 after a couple of days playing it, it began to freeze randomly.

A couple of months past and I bough the saints row game. After playing that for a while. Fast forward to around feb/march of 07 and the game just didn’t work anymore. As soon as i load the actual game, it froze after a minute of gameplay ALL the time.

Note that all the above are warning signs of things to come: read below.
After buying forza 2, as soon as i put it in my 360 BAM 3 rrod for the first time(note when i say first time). I sent it back to MS and it took then 5 yes 5 weeks to send it back to me. So now i have a refurb and after i applied the spring update BAM 3 rrod AGAIN! Now fast forward another 5-6 weeks i receive yet another refurb(around July the time now) and as soon, and i repeat as soon as i switch it on BAM again 3 rrod.

I send it back again, got a free game and a free controller for compensation and waited another 5-6 weeks. I got it back in time for a big party I was hosting in September. Guess what? It worked wonders. Would I say that two weeks later after receiving it? Nope 3 rrod again LOL. Another 4-5 weeks past and its now October and whoa they send me actually fixed the refurb they sent me in September so let’s fast forward to 2 weeks ago when gta just came out. Guess what lads. Another 3 rrod LOL.

Have you counted how many times it’s messed up? I lost count at this stage but I think it’s between 4 and 5 times.
That is why as soon as I went out shopping I bought a brand new ps3 with gta4 and I am now a happy camper. I really wasn’t planning too but I got one anyway and after 2 weeks of playing it, I ask myself this question “why didn’t I get this instead of a 360?”

Besides Xbox live, the ps3 imo is better than the 360. It is more reliable, ALOT quieter , free online play blue ray, upgradable hdd that doesn’t void warranty, folding at home and teh ability to install Linux in it plus lots of exclusive games coming out this year shuch has MGS4, little big planet, socom, etc

No1 in their right mind would blame me for ditching the 360 and this story I just told you could happen to you. You got maybe a 30% chance of this happening to you and that’s a big figure. Half of my friends have had their 360’s die at least once and if you check my gamertag on LIVE I have over 40 mates there.

    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

Alot of people who are quick to disregard the ps3 and make silly jokes about it being inferior have never played on one, but nearly all the people i know who dont like the 360 have owned one or more and have had a bad experience.

    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

I don't think GTAIV could possibly be good enough to be the sole reason for buying either a 360 or PS3. The game will not go off, so my recommendation would be to wait for the refresh models of both the 360 and PS3 and buy them with GTAIV later - you'll save money and you'll be able to see if the negatives for each console have been addressed in the meantime.

I know I will get a 360 if and when they produce a low powered refresh model with solid reliability.

like what? if your on about software related issues then thats irrelivant has where talking about teh actual hardware ie the console itself.

it has blu ray, removable hdd, usb ports that can recongnise almost any type of usb device and build in wifi. All in which 360 doesnt have.

    what else do you want?

rumble. NOT a last gen feature, NOT supported at launch (instead we were fed lies about how it was nothing to do with their lawsuit), and NOT fixed for europeans yet.

online comms. once i start a game, it should be possible to contact me - y'know, the way a 360 owner can send someone a "join game" invite even if they're playing something else.

online store. no videos? srsly? isn't the ps3 meant to be a media hub of some kind?

games. the ps3's game library is STILL a pale comparison of the 360's.

niggles. why does the ps3 pad not turn itself off after a period of inactivity? if i don't explicitly turn it off when watching a movie or using f@h, then the battery drains flat. DUMB.

    how's that for starters?

    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

Yes, yes, Josh, your 360 broke.

Thats all, nothing else has changed. If its pissed you off, buy a PS3 and the jobs a good un.

Suddenly, because you are annoyed about your 360 breaking, the 360 isn't worth a penny, and the PS3 is the bestest console ev0r.

    Nothing has changed.

The PS3 is still more reliable and has bluray, the 360 still has Xbox Live and a more mature games libary. Nothing else changes because you have switched consoles, don't try to justify everything that happens in the age old method of saying whichever console you don't have 'sucks'.

Your 360 breaks and suddenly you've 'just realised' the PS3 is better... because you have one, and suddenly the 360 is crap, because you don't have one.

    Such children on this forum.

    dual shock 3 pal

online comms. once i start a game, it should be possible to contact me - y'know, the way a 360 owner can send someone a "join game" invite even if they're playing something else.

i agree but yet again a software related issue

online store. no videos? srsly? isn't the ps3 meant to be a media hub of some kind?

    again a software related issue

games. the ps3's game library is STILL a pale comparison of the 360's.

360 had what? a year head start?

niggles. why does the ps3 pad not turn itself off after a period of inactivity? if i don't explicitly turn it off when watching a movie or using f@h, then the battery drains flat. DUMB.

fully agree with no comments and that was the first comment made diirectly related to actual console functionality(although im sure firmware upgrade could easily fix this).

    Such children on this forum.
a child? you must have a brain has a child because you first sentence stated that i SHOULD buy a ps3 yet your closing statement states that i already have one. wtf lol

suddently? i had my ps3 for 2 weeks now and any console that works is better then a broken 360 right kido? i'd liek to see if you can still play and support the 360 if your's broke 5 or more times LOL

    Re: XBox 360 or Not?

a console in this day & age is the product of more than microchips. software problems are ENTIRELY relevant. because the console experience is about everything just working, everything just coming together. needing to phone someone up to organise online play, whilst the 360 can do it all seamlessly, is a major problem!

and where can i buy a UK-spec dualshock3? why didn't one come with my console?
