    Angry ps3 can't boot gameos - ubuntu

    basically went to do the guided install of ubuntu 8.04 and the disc was buggered so turned machine off as was stuck in a loop and now when i turn it on i can't get into ps3 gameos only a stupid linux boot command prompt.
    i've tried boot-game-os
    and nothing.

    fixed it...
    for those that this could help though...
    cycle power first (turn off switch on back for 2 minutes, turn back on), then hold power button force loading ps3 os. that should do the trick.

    Umm, you installed Ubuntu on your ps3? Why would you do that?

    i'm pretty sure my article on ps3 linux (the same one saying not to bother) says holding the power button until the system beeps twice will force it into gameos

    lol did i mention I'd been reading it...? no I didn't think so. I'm not a mind reader and I don't go routing through all your posts/threads so how would I know that
    and ubuntu because the ps3 was designed out of box to support linux legitimately...

    This isn't meant to be a provocative question, but apart from the "because I can" aspect of it why do you want Linux on a PS3? What does it give you?

    a low power download box is reason enough.considering how quiet it is

    tried and no it doesn't work just keeps restarting into the failed install of ubuntu tried typing boot-game-os everything i can think off

    Sorry, but you're doing something wrong.

    Turning the system on by holding the ps3 power button until it beeps TWICE forces the thing into recovery mode - gameos, 480i
