    Best Oblivion Mods?

Just curious. Judging by the number of mods available for the game, and the number of people on these forums who have the game, what are your recommended best ones? I just got into the game, and am quite loving it, esp the stuff in the Imperial Arena. One major gripe is just how little shopkeepers are willing to pay me for my loot! Like 40% of what they're really worth! Another one is the inability to store any stuff that I can't carry...Any one got any ideas on that?

EDIT: Oh yes, and I got this one second hand, and the version of the app is 0.1.0.228. I can't find the information anywhere - are the patches inclusive of older ones?

OK, dont know whether to keep this thread or continue in the old ones...
I just downloaded the OOO mod version 1.31 but it says that I have to download Wre Bash, and 'fix' my save games in order to keep the games balance, but now i'm confused trying to get that to work!

    Re: Best Oblivion Mods?

Personally I'd play the game through without OOO or any of the major gameplay changing mods - just keep to graphical improvements etc. Then once you're bored of vanilla try out the ones that give a different type of play.

I forgot to say you can obviously haggle to get more money out of shopkeepers, but that depends on your mercantile and speechcraft skills of course.

OK, natural environments is done, going to try it with that and then decide what else to add...

My oblivion is brokked. Loads of textures such as my sword/armour etc. are all white now!

    Re: Best Oblivion Mods?

I'd agree that major gameplay overhauls tend to be a bad idea first time around, although additional quests and minor system rebalances can be good

    I use:
    The official mods & SI
The unofficial patches (Oblivion, SI, and the official mods)
Qarl's Texture Pack 3 (actually the lite version - and Oblivion runs better with it!)
    Enhanced water
    LOD noise replacer
Low Poly grass (because I need grass, but my system is weak )
    Real Lava
Qarl's Harvest (removes mushrooms from logs when picked)
    Hmns Script Optomisation
    Less Fog Underwater
Alive Waters (all three parts - more fish, more plants and more wrecks)
Crowded roads (as I really shouldn't be the only traveller in the Imperial Heartland)
Vaults of Cyrodill (adds hard-to-plunder vaults to the towns)
Streamline (to keep the texture usage down)
Natural Environments (Weather, habitat and vegetation, not the water)
VWD-Chapels (My system can't cope with AVWD, so I settle for just the chapels - this is a real must for the pretty!)
Brew House (I've yet to actually find this, but it looked in-lore and fun)
Knights of the White Stallion (large quest mod)
CM Partners (came with another mod, adds more companions)
Living Economy (base and items, makes shops more variable and realistic, might have more money)
VA Better Gold (makes money prettier and more shiny)
Realistic Forces (High version - reduces ragdoll effects to a more realistic level)
SM Plugin Refurbish (Delays start of official plugins so that they fit into natural play)
Thievery in the Imperial city (thief quests)
Unique landscapes project mods (all of them, they are extremely pretty)
Stealth overhaul (makes it harder and more realistic)
Thieves arsenal (some new items and tactics)
Book Jackets (unique appropriate book jackets for every book, high resolution)
Origin of the mages guild (yet to reach the content, but extends the mages guild plot based entirely on ES lore)

As you can see, most of them focus on the pretty I thought I was also using a signpost texture replacer, but I can't seem to find which one.

Saddle bags mod. Very handy. Just keep your horse out of trouble.

Given that I don't keep links around to mods, that's be a no. Given the number I'm afraid it really would be impractical. I linked to the Unofficial patch and the Unique landscapes release threads in another thread here on Oblivion.
However try looking through the Bethesda Oblivion mods forum, and TESNexus. Also have a look at the Total Oblivion Texture Overhaul site for some of the links.

    Re: Best Oblivion Mods?

OK, So I've decided to just not do mods at all coz they're confusing/when they do work, my in game world messes up.

Is there any where that I can sell my more expensive stolen items!? When I go to the theives guild guy called Olav or something, my expensive stolen weapons are not there on the list to sell!
