    MMORPGs Anonymous

With the announcement of AoC in the last few days and the thought of more wonderful MMORPGs in the pipeline, I'm left with really only one thought.

    Meh.

Don't get me wrong, I loved WoW, I played it solidly for a good few years. But I got to the point where I felt that the game was asking more of me than I could give in terms of both money and of time. I felt the same feeling when I played the Eve trial recently, if anything I loved the game more than WoW but I couldn't help feeling that if I really wanted to play the game properly it would eat up more of my life than I was prepared to give.

So now I'm sat looking at AoC, WAR and the like with so much longing but also with the knowlege that I can't possibly, ever, bring myself to play them.

Considered EvE? I found that considerably less time had to be put in to progress to the same stage as WoW.

Everything is real-time based, not time based as in how much you play the game.
For example, you want to learn something new: You start the skill to do so. If the skill takes 24 hours, it takes 24 hours. It doesn't matter if you are online or offline - you get the skill once 24 hours has passed

    GUILD WARS.

No money commitment. No time commitment.

I play about one weekend a month, but have been doing for 3 years now. It's been immensely fun with absolutely no pressure to continue playing for any reason at all.

    Re: MMORPGs Anonymous

    Guild Wars isnt a MMORPG

    (CORPG - Competitive Online RPG).

Its an entirely different thing alltogether from real MMORPG's.

    Re: MMORPGs Anonymous

I'm loving AoC at the moment. The melee combat system rocks and it's always good to see a head or 3 lopped off

Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
