I agree with Logitech's G25... unless you can find an original MOMO on the cheap?

There's actually a new wheel and pedal set available... but only in the States just now, unfortunately.
But I know a guy on another forum who imported one last week.
He's well into his racing games, and still owns an original MOMO and a G25.
But he reckons this new one leaves them in the shade in terms of both quality and feedback

I'm talking about the (wireless!!) Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Racing Wheel:

    Re: best wheel for gt5?

I've got an original Momo and whilst it drives well with GT5, none of the buttons are programmable, so it's not all that useful.

tbh that porsche one looks very cheap and tacky the plastic looks like a kids toy and the stick doesn't look very movable compared to the g25... i also prefer the aesthetics of the g25 and the finish they use.still if its good that's cool just looks abit chunky and tacky.

It's just as well looks aren't everything then Keef

I made a copy of the review the guy who bought it put up on another forum, and the following are some of his comments.
Remember... this is a guy who has used/still owns an original MOMO and a G25:

The wheel sits very comfortably in your hands. For starters, it's thickness is perfect, and it has a nice feel.
Ideally, I would have liked a slightly softer feeling wheel rim, perhaps with some race-car like spongy material underneath the leather.
But the leather feels nice in its own right, and the stitching and craftsmanship are top notch.

    Desk attachment:

This is the best mechanism I've ever seen for attaching a wheel. It's rock solid... much more than I've ever got my Momo.

    The gear stick.

Now obviously the Momo doesn't have a gear stick so it's hard to compare, but I've used a G25 on a few occasions, and absolutely hated the stick.
It felt cheap, plasticy and flimsy. Whilst the Fanatec stick shift may well be made of plastic, it doesn't feel cheap.

Now for the pedals. Oooh, the pedals.

Before I start discussing the pedals in detail, let me just say that I have parquet wooden floors in my living room, and these are not conducive to good pedal play.
I have to gaffer tape my Momo pedals down to prevent movement, which plays havoc with the varnish on my floor, and leaves bits of tape all over the Momo.

... it's almost comical as I sit here and stamp on the break pedal of the Fanatec setup. It's me that moves and not the pedals! No... really!
I've had to swap my nice big leather chair with wheels for a static chair out of the conservatory.
The pedals are so solid - and the brake has so much resistance, that pushing the brake sends me flying across the room
No tape, no goo all over my floor, no faffing about. They just stay put!

Fanatec thought it a mighty fine idea to include a half metre square anti slip mat in the bundle, and what a mighty fine idea it was.
I'm not joking when I say I can't get the pedals to move now. Once they're on this anti-slip mat, they might as well be bolted to the floor.

    Conclusion:

I paid best part of £260 for this Porsche wheel, so is it worth £100+ more than a G25?
The answer - in my opinion is definitely yes.
The wheel is better, the pedals are better, and the stick shift is better - and it's a million times more stylish.

So for me, yes... it's worth £100+ more than the G25
    .

That's just one UK user's opinion of course.
But given that he's the owner of an original MOMO and a G25, and basically plays no other genre bar racing/driving games on his PC... his opinion favouring of Fanatec's Porsche 911 Turbo Racing Wheel over either of/both the other two, is a pretty convincing one I'd say

And for that reason... I 'm personally living in hope, that they plan on adding some UK distributors

i want that wheel just cos it looks nice , but wont ever pay that much as i find £50 is a max for any accesory(mice=£20 keyboard=£20 ).
Sorry to high jack your thread but can any1 recommend a good steering wheel for race driver grid? just got the demo and man its amazing, graphics and the physics , now just need a wheel to play around like a pro xD, £50 would be the max though.

I don't know how good they are, but there's a 'Logic 3 Steering Wheel & Pedals' (which is also compatible with the PS3 - apparently) available from Amazon for just £25.
But Logitech's 'Formula Force EX' - which is available for <£35 - £45 + P&P, is probably the best you're going to get for <£50?

    Re: best wheel for gt5?

If you can't run to the G25 there's always the Logitech Driving Force Pro.

That was the no.1 wheel before they brought out the G25.
It doesn't have the 6 speed gear change or the clutch pedal but does, like the G25, work with PC, PS2 and PS3. Which is nice.
AFAIK the G25 and that Porsche wheel are the only ones with the clutch pedal.

It's not worth (in my opinion) buying cheap wheels. They don't last and they generally don't give the same game experience.
