Hi all, i'm reinstalling XP in the next few days, does anyone know if it is possible to backup game files for Guild Wars like you can with Steam games, or is there anything from the Guild Wars folder i should keep?
Thanks
Andy

I'd just let it install/update as you play along, doesn't take long and you will end up with a smaller file if you're not visiting old areas again.
If you want to rebuild the complete world then start up gw with the command line flag -image and it'll download the whole thing (~3gb I think).

So could i copy the gw.exe and gw.dat to the new install and use them, although i think it may be best just to let it download as i go
One of the support chaps emailed me it after I put in a ticket about not being able to do rollerbeetle races! (Fabulous support for a non-sub game too I have to say.)
It doesn't launch the game with that flag, just updates everything. You have to remove the flag after you've updated (or just create a new shortcut GW_Updater or similar). Quite nice for keeping the files uptodate when you're not playing so that when you do play there's no delay moving between areas.
I literally just reinstall from the discs, at least then when it updates its not having to pull down all the campaigns again.
I download the client from the website and install that, then copy across my gw.dat file, seems to be the quickest way of doing it imho. I run the -image flag occasionally if I haven't ran the game for a while.
install guild wars night fall and guild wars eye of the north and it should install most of the files you need minus the area files but there small anyway
