    Lightbulb Performance in Far Cry

    Hi there,

    after leeching a 500Mb Demo i finally got to play this game. The Game is in one word "amazing" !!

    But here is the downside. What kind of machiene does one need to actually play this game. I run it "fairly smoothly" at 1280x1024x32 with everything on High. I dont know how to show the FPS but it feels like around 30ish to 40ish.

    I ran it on my (old) <--now buddys PC which is a 3.85GHz P4 with 1GB of Ram and a 9800 Pro. It doesnt run any different.

    What are your experiences with the Performace of games such as Far Cry or UT2004 ?

    For starters you have dual processors - one of them won't be used.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Thats true. But I watched the CPU and Memory usage during gameplay on a second monitor and found out the following.

    25% to 32% usage = which means that it uses 1 out of 4 for the game and the second for system resources and others.

    I talked to many people in other forums and there is not a single machiene which actually gets very good framerates. Not even my old 3.85 GHz P4, which was darn fast can handle this in a very good way.

    PS: And it takes 450MB of Ram...

    This demo is still in production tho, so hopefully it will be optimized for performance issues when released in spring?

    I care more about the fact that the demo is impossibly difficult, so I hate to think what the full game is like!?

    On easy the demo is well simple, you can fool the computer so easily, on hard however its a different story.

    anyway back to the topic...
    if its the same sorta graphics as ut2004 (anybody played both demos)
    then itll prolly run fine on geforce4ti4200 and nf7-s 1700+xp, will it not?
    as they say that ut2004 easily runs on this sorta spec...
    i dunno tho if its loadsa wide open spaces and jungles (which sounds very fun)its gonna be a bit jerky on this spec me thinks
    Pete
