    Old games in Vista64?

I'm going to upgrade my OS to vista 64bit and was wondering how the old games run on it, particularly:

    StarCraft
    Farcry
    Quake 4
    Doom 3
    UT2004

    Cheers for the help guys.

    Re: Old games in Vista64?

Never managed to get Starcraft running under X64, rest work fine.

Bear in mind that anything that has a 16bit installer won't work, a lot of the older lucasarts games like Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine won't install because of this. Mind you if you have a google about you can find an updated 3rd party installer for Grim Fandango.

I took X64 off about a month ago and put X32 on as I do play older games, had no trouble with them at all under 32 bit.

I've got starcraft running on V64 just fine. Just slap in the cd, install, then join battle.net and it'l get the latest patch for you if you need it.

    Re: Old games in Vista64?

you can't patch it unless you run as administrator - best bet is to download the patch separately from blizzard.com and run as admin. but yes, SC is fine on vista64. and it's also acceptably old, so i'll talk about it. not speaking to the other games you mention, they're mere whippersnappers

    Re: Old games in Vista64?

I've run all of those games on vista x64 with no problems

Starcraft is the only one you could consider "old" though, and even that isn't that old It also happens to be the best game on the list
